- Implement district/school supported outreach strategies where all families feel welcome, supported, and encouraged to become involved in all levels of family involvement.
- Facilitate, as needed, two-way communication between families and school staff.
- Collaborate with all school staff to create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere throughout the school campus.
- Maintain and coordinate a space for families to receive information about family engagement offerings on the campus and throughout the community.
- Collaborate effectively with school and community stakeholders (e.g. families, teachers, counselors, community organizations, bilingual resource personnel, school administration, parent and family organizations, etc.).
- Serve as a liaison between state and local agencies, schools, and families, maintaining an open line of communication.
- Prepare, organize, manage, and disseminate informational materials, providing information on respective programs to students, parents, teachers, and/or agency personnel promoting services of assigned programs.
- Meet with any combination of parents, students, agency personnel, facilitating communication by establishing and maintaining open lines of communication.
- Organize, coordinate, and facilitate a wide variety of meetings, workshops, presentations, activities, and events to develop partnerships between families and schools.
- Provide parent awareness of student expectations, committees within the school, and other programs; assist families with information on other community services, and help students and their families access resources, community services, and enrichment activities.
- Facilitate, plan, develop, and/or implement programs and services.
- Work closely with and develop referral systems to promote a continuum of services.
- Facilitate and coordinate various support services to students and/or families and related programs.
- Function as a member of a family support team, promoting the development of needed services at the home school and feeder schools.
- Utilize district/school supports to communicate effectively with families.
- Conduct home visit meetings as necessary, and report and/or make referrals as needed.
- Provide and/or arrange transportation for students and/or families as needed.
- Arrange translation for bilingual and monolingual students and families when necessary.
- Facilitate the respective application process by assisting families/students with all necessary forms and maintaining continuity of the application process.
- Obtain and maintain records, reports, data, and necessary documentation according to federal and state regulations.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of client information.
- Help school communities assess and evaluate appropriate services.
- Maintain financial records and ensure compliance with APS/grant financial guidelines.
- Maintain a computer database with client information and other pertinent data.
- Collect, prepare, and maintain appropriate paperwork for confidential permanent and working files and provide reports as necessary.
- Function as a member of a cluster support team.
- Document all program correspondence and complete all necessary paperwork.
- Implement and facilitate activities to improve students' educational, vocational, psychological, social, and independent living skills.
- Assist students in obtaining appropriate adult agency connections.
- Serve as the initial contact person for students' programs.
- Participate in workshops and conferences as requested by the immediate supervisor and/or the district.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Flexibility, organization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Interpersonal skills with diverse populations in-person and on the telephone.
- Knowledge of APS community, computer system, financial, and legal requirements.
- Ability to meet deadlines, work on multiple projects, and coordinate the work of others.
- Knowledge of District policies on immunization, medication, first aid, emergency safety, and child abuse/neglect.
- Ability to advocate for students and follow through with implementation.
- Ability to collect and maintain accurate records and give standardized and non-standardized assessments.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Participation in on-going staff business and training programs within the department.
- Valid New Mexico driver's license and liability insurance.
- Licensure based on State Department of Education Regulation No. 90-5.
