    Description

    Weltman is looking to add a Legal Assistant to our Real Estate group for support of routine legal work on file.

    This position can be located at any of our office locations.

    $2k Retention Bonus during your 1st year of Employment


    Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks:

    • Prepares and files legal documents with the appropriate court and assist attorney with management of cases.
    • Arrange for payment of court cost and fees and sets up billing in accordance with the client billing schedules.
    • Conducts research including case history, asset location, skip tracing.
    • Review electronic files, mail and standard legal documents to gather information and locate missing or incomplete records.
    • Contacts clients, consumers, attorneys, and courts for further instructions, status updates and any additional information and documentation.
    • Maintain and update client specific ecommerce websites in accordance with their guidelines.
    • Obtain local counsel coverage for court hearings and sale dates.
    • Forward accounts to network local counsel; serves as liaison between client, local counsel and firm attorney.
    • Complete all required training applicable to assigned position.
    • Additional duties as requested or required.

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
    • 2 years relevant experience in the Real Estate industry, preferably in foreclosures, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
    • Professional demeanor with clients and co-workers.
    • Good oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment through efficiency and excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
    • Must be able to type a minimum of 45 words per minute with accuracy.
    • In addition to traditional software applications, experience and aptitude for web-based technology including case management software, e-filing, e-recording and cloud-based phone. The ability to work paperless whenever possible.

    Work Requirements:

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit at the workstation for extended periods. The employee must have the ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form; enter data into a computer; and operate standard office equipment including computer, telephone, printer, copier, and facsimile machine.
