General Description / Primary PurposeWork performing housekeeping duties including cleaning restrooms, lounges, student apartments, common-use areas, carpet and tile floors.

This position required a positive, self-motivated person with excellent interpersonal skills, willing to work in an environment requiring strong emphasis on providing superior customer service in conformance with the University's mission and values.

Housing Operations is an integral part of the Division of Student Affairs, and as such, is measured by its ability to successfully interact with students and to assist in their individual needs and concerns.

To this end, the Custodial Worker will often be required to demonstrate a caring and patient attitude, utilize conflict resolutions skills and to ensure that every effort is made to create satisfied students.

Faculty Position Required QualificationsN/ADepartmental RequirementsAbility to operate and maneuver high speed buffers and scrubbers. Ability to understand University rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Ability to communicate information effectively, in English, both verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling and walking significant distance between and within buildings on campus.

Ability to push, lift, or move loads of at least 35 pounds (bags of trash, cleaning carts, buffers, scrubbers, cleaning supplies and the like).

Ability to carry, erect, climb and maneuver on ladders and/or scaffolds. Ability to perform duties within extreme temperature ranges between interior and exterior of the buildings.

Visual ability, corrected, to observe dangerous situations in the work area (such as wet floors) in order to redirect people to avoid injuries.

Ability to stand, walk, and/or sit and continuously perform essential job functions for an 8-hour shift, with two fifteen-minute breaks and one-half hour meal break.

Physically, must be able to ascend stairways to gain access to 2nd and 3rd story apartments (no elevator available), ascend narrow spiral stairwells to gain access to loft bedroom units.
