    Freelance Graphic Designer - Email/SMS

    Remote

    **This will be a temporary, 3-month assignment**

    Position Overview:

    The Graphic Designer – Email/SMS is responsible for crafting integrated digital marketing campaigns across multiple channels—primarily email but also including web, display, and social media—for multiple DTC haircare sites. Working with the Email/CRM Marketing Manager, the EGD will ensure elevated brand expression and alignment with business objectives and apply UX design, ecommerce, and conversion optimization best practices to all campaigns.

    The person in this role will be able translate a written brief into a dynamic and effective design that delivers results and will be an expert in HTML email creation: responsive design layouts, device breakpoints, and workarounds for limitations of email clients/browsers.

    This role will be critical in shaping and elevating the visual identity of our haircare brands and requires strong typographic and editorial design skills, an interest in the beauty space, and a concise understanding of brand standards.

    Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Design high-performing marketing emails including individual campaigns and triggered flow campaigns while following brand guidelines.
    • Create accompanying social, animated banner and static banner assets as needed.
    • Ensure all email designs are responsive and optimized for various devices and email clients.
    • Ensure brand consistency across all design elements, adhering to brand guidelines and maintaining a high level of quality.
    • Create and optimize email layout templates per industry trends and standards for maximum efficiency.
    • Collaborate closely with the ecommerce and brand teams to action feedback and make revisions to develop creative that compels the right audience to purchase.
    • Leverage a digital and mobile-first mindset in design, including video and animation.
    • Brainstorm creative ideas while keeping in mind the feasibility of the requests from a design standpoint.
    • Recommend opportunities to optimize email creative and campaigns based on results of executed emails (e.g., CTR, revenue, etc) and email marketing best practices.
    • Keep up to date with emerging technologies and design trends to help evolve and elevate our brand expression.
    • Prioritize work to meet deadlines and respond to critical or unanticipated workload and business shifts.

    Education/Experience Requirements:

    • 5-7 years' graphic design experience, including email marketing design.
    • High proficiency in HTML for email and email design best practices.
    • Strong understanding of image curation, visual storytelling, typography, layout, form, photo retouching, and color balancing
    • Significant understanding of email optimization + mobile design best practices.
    • Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.)
    • Klaviyo + Shopify experience.
    • Familiarity with A/B split-testing is a must.
    • Ability to design within different brand guidelines and styles.
    • Experience reviewing email response metrics (CTR, revenue, conversion, etc) and recommending strategies to improve performance.
    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
    • Conceptual thinking and ability to execute ideas.
    • Ability to multi-task, produce design concepts in a fast-paced environment, and deliver on time.
    • Strong portfolio demonstrating creative and impactful design work.
    • Beauty experience a plus.
