  • Salary range: $49, $57, THIS POSITION MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR REMOTE WORK FOR UP TO 2 DAYS PER WEEK, PURSUANT TO THE REMOTE WORK PILOT PROGRAM.
  • The Communications & Marketing Division is responsible for promoting the Agency's work through multimedia channels to reach and engage New York City's diverse communities.
  • The Graphic Designer will report to the Senior Graphic Designer.

Duties of the Graphic Designer will include:

  • Assist with design of Agency materials and marketing collaterals, including but not limited to brochures, flyers, reports, advertising, inspection checklists, posters, signage, custom forms, licensing plates, stickers, etc.
  • Provide design support for Agency digital projects, including graphic needs for the Agency's intranet, website, social media platforms, and multimedia presentations.
  • Help develop communications and marketing plans for public education campaigns in cooperation with other Agency staff.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors (i.e., printers, translation services, etc.) when needed to provide needed assets or to ensure proper production of print materials.
  • Audit signage and publications in Agency public areas.
Minimum Qualifications(1) A baccalaureate degree, with a major in fine or graphic arts, from an accredited college and one year of full-time paid experience as a commercial or graphic artist; or
(2) A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent plus two years of training in a technical school approved by a state's Department of Education or comparable governmental agency, in oils, water colors, painting, design, black and white, layout, computer graphics, and other art media, and three years of acceptable full-time paid experience as a commercial or graphic artist.
To be qualified for assignment to Assignment Level II, individuals must have:
(a) at least one year of experience as a Graphic Artist, Assignment Level I; or
(b) the Qualification Requirements described in "1" or "2" above, plus two additional years of acceptable specialized paid experience conceptualizing and initiating graphic art projects.

Preferred Skills- Strong organizational and time management skills. - Detail oriented and professional. - Understanding of graphics terminology and production procedures, as well as proven experience working with related desktop programs. - Background in Web/print design, layout, and production. - Experience working in both Mac and PC environments. - Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience using Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), Adobe Acrobat Professional, and other programs. - Basic animation skills. - Ability to troubleshoot and willingness to learn new software as needed. - Strong understanding of typography, layout, and color usage. - Experience both conceiving and implementing creative concepts. - Experience designing a wide range of print materials. - Experience handling and proofreading copy-heavy documents and ability to work with complex stylesheets. - Experience working with multilingual files. - Experience researching stock photography and working with photographers on image needs. - Experience working with outside vendors (printers, translation services, etc.). - Experience using Microsoft Office, in particular Word and PowerPoint. - Familiarity with graphic industry standards and best practices. - Experience with Project Management tools a plus. - Bilingual skills a plus. - Illustration skills a plus.
