    Summary of Position
  • This position is responsible for ensuring all donations to the University and UNH Foundation comply with all federal and state regulations and USNH and UNH policies. This position designs, implements and maintains efficient policies and procedures to ensure all complex donations and donations requiring contracts ("Gift Agreements") are routed in a timely and userfriendly, donorcentric manner. This position will make use of multiple technologies to facilitate this process and will keep themselves abreast of industry best practices and changes in the legal and policy environment. They will provide education and consultation to development officers and University leadership on the most complex gift issues and be a key liaison with USNH and external tax and legal counsel.

  • The Assistant Director of Gift Acceptance and Administration will be a highly motivated member of the University Advancement Relations team with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of related experience in compliance and/or contract development, and/or fundraising compliance.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Must be selfdirected, dependable, collaborative, and motivated by the highest standards of professionalism. Demonstrated ability to function in a complex environment both independently and with teams to manage a multifaceted program, multiple assignments, deadlines, and production schedules.
  • Proficiency in resolving complicated issues independently. Confidence to experiment to find creative solutions and cultivate the ideas of others to solve complex problems.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and relationship management skills with both internal and external constituencies.
  • Ability to interface on par with tax advisers, attorneys and other professionals.
  • Ability to work with a high degree of professionalism and sensitivity to highly confidential information.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations and policies, including CASE standards, IRS regulations, and gift and pledge accounting, processing, and receipting requirements.
  • Willingness and aptitude to embrace new ideas and employ new technologies as required.
  • Solid writing and verbal communication skills are a must.
  • Capacity and confidence to deal with interruptions, short deadlines, varied personalities.
  • Act as a representative of the mission, visions and values of University Advancement and the University.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues in the furtherance of a common goal.

  • Experience, coursework, or other training in current trends in charitable giving in the areas of capital campaigns, major gifts and complex gift instruments, IRS compliance.
  • Experience in project and policy management and process improvement.
  • Knowledge of fundraising best practices, policies and procedures, including use of the development database software, ticketing and process management systems, and knowledge base technology.
