    Description

    Position will be located out of Geismar Methanol terminal in support of the Geismar River and Methanol Terminals, Geismar Logistics Terminal, and St.

    Gabriel Terminal, providing support to the region, business unit and Kinder Morgan as needed.

    Responsible for the strategic planning, technical support and overall management for handling environment, health, safety, training and industrial hygiene issues for the terminals.

    Administers and oversees the Terminal EHS Staff, compliance programs, procedures, and policies associated with federal, state, and local regulations and acts as a liaison with external legal and regulatory personnel and agencies

    Minimum requirements:
    Education:
    • Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Safety, or related discipline, from an accredited academic institution is required

    Experience / specific knowledge:

    • A minimum of 5-years of previous successful work experience in a safety and/or environmental compliance position is required.
    Must demonstrate an advanced working knowledge of OSHA and/or EPA regulations. DOT and USCG experience is a plus. Manage day to day EHS requirementsFamiliarity with PSM and RMP regulations is a plus.

    · Must possess and be willing to maintain expert knowledge of safety programs, especially Hazardous Energy Control, Fall Protection, Safe Work Permitting and Confined Space Entry.· Candidate must be able to interface effectively with governmental agencies, regulating boards, third parties, contractors, and lawyers.

    · Ability to maintain Confidence and appropriate candor.· A high level of technical knowledge is required, including the ability to be innovative and creative while utilizing technical resources to address complex compliance issues related to liquid and bulk material handling facilities.

    Ability to influence senior leaders and to drive decision making to conclusions/solutions.

    Must have exceptional skills in building interpersonal relationships, including a high degree of judgment, diplomacy and ability to influence others.


    • A working knowledge of air, water, and waste federal and state regulations is required.

    Assist internal / external legal counsel in preparation of legal and technical defenses in regulatory enforcement actions and associated regulatory matters;Participate in Technical Working Groups, industry and trade associations;Personnel management; mentoring, development, and staff succession planning;Coordinate customer and neighbor interaction (customer requests, CAER, community relations, vendors/consultants, agencies, customer audits).Ensure appropriate countermeasures are properly identified to prevent recurrence utilizing a robust incident investigation process including 5-Why root cause analysis;Proven experience managing a team, creating and measuring goals.

    Certifications, licenses, registrations:

    • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to company and insurers.
    • Ability to attain a TWIC (Transportation Work Identification Credential) as issued by TSA.
    • Successful completion and passing of company drug screen, background check and respirator fit test.

    • Must be capable of developing and revising practical and effective company procedures, standards, processes and bestpractices.
    • Must be accountable and manage activities to keep required work schedules.
    • Must have strong analytical skills and logical thought processes.
    • Must be self-motivated and able to follow through on assigned task with minimal direction.
    • Must be able to focus on work, through day to day distractions.
    • Must maintain a professional and respectful demeanor / attitude with co-workers, contractors, customers and regulatoryagencies.
    • Must have intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams andPowerPoint.

    Physical demands:

    • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
    • While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent may be required to stand; walk, sit, ascend/descend stairs; use hands tofinger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk orhear.

    Working conditions:

    • Must be willing and able to work in a corporate office and field environment.
    • Must be willing and able to work in the outside in the plant environment, in all types of climatic conditions.
    • Must be able to climb stairs, cranes, conveyor systems, tanks, up to 95 feet.
    • Travel to other field or corporate locations may be required depending on nature of ongoing work activities as much as 50% or possibly even more.
    • Must be willing and able to carry a company provided cell phone and respond as needed 24/7.
    • Subject to PHMSA compliant drug testing program.
    • Extended periods of sitting may be required for administrative activities.
