    My established client is looking for an EHS Manager to join their team.

    The primary responsibility is to manage and delivery EH&S training for the organization while also conducting performance review of statistical EH&S data trends to determine risk reduction and/or avoidance initiatives. The EHS Manager reports to the Corporate Director of EHS.

    The EHS Manager frequently interacts with: Health, Safety and Security Supervisor; Environmental Coordinator; Process Safety Manager; Operations Management; Maintenance Management; Engineering and hourly production and maintenance employees. Other contact interactions may involve regulatory agencies, emergency response personnel and legal counsel. On occasion, interaction may involve participation in labor-management meetings.

    The position requires the ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment. Examples of important individual skill sets required to be successful in the position include, but are not limited to, working effectively within a team and diverse work group, building business partnerships across functional business lines, analytical thinking, problem-solving, people management skills as well as the ability to communicate in non-technical terms to non-technical individuals.

    The key challenge and responsibility of the position is to assist in driving and leading a health and safety culture change by identifying EH&S gaps in training, policy, and operating practices. Once identified, develop and lead initiatives to strengthen concerns.

    Education and Experience: (Required):

    • B.S. degree in occupational health, safety, science, safety engineering or a related science or technical field
    • 10+ years of progressive experience in managing Environmental, Health and Safety programs
    • Working knowledge of Environmental, Health, Safety and Security regulations
    • Health and Safety experience within a chemical manufacturing environment or petro chemical industry
    • Environmental experience: Hazardous Waste rules for Large Quantity Generators: Air rules related to Title V or Part 70 air permit reporting; and Water rules related to NPDES reporting
    • Certified Safety Professional and/or Certified Industrial Hygienist preferred
    • Proven skills strategic thinking, influencing, and leveraging management to improve performance
    • Understanding of behavioral science/behavioral modification techniques; proven track record in behavior/based safety cultural improvements
    • Experience interfacing / communicating with regulatory agencies (OSHA, EPA) verbally, in writing and on-site inspections
    • Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills
    • Computer skills a must, with knowledge of MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint

    Technical Knowledge:

    • Knowledge of Federal / State EPA and OSHA compliance requirements
    • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization and job site personnel clearly and effectively via written word and oral presentation as necessary
    • Experience working in a union environment is preferred

    Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms
    • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment
    • Must be able to work around hazardous chemicals and exposure to dust
    • Ability to regularly work in and be exposed to outside weather elements (i.e. rain, snow, cold, heat)
    • Physical ability to regularly work around and on industrial equipment, including frequent climbing of stairs and ladders, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, crouch or squat, twist, stooping and standing. Frequently need to talk, hear and use hands. Must be able to occasionally lift moderately heavy objects up to 40 pounds
