    Job Summary
    The Buyer is responsible for sourcing materials and negotiating favorable terms to meet production demands. They will manage relationships with suppliers and oversee the acquisition of various commodities required for production. Additionally, they will monitor inventory levels, mitigate supply chain risks, and collaborate cross-functionally to optimize efficiency and minimize costs throughout the procurement lifecycle.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Source and procure raw materials, components, and equipment required for manufacturing operations. Including Purchase Order creation and monitoring.
    • Regularly assess MRP (Material Requirements Planning) demand and implement appropriate measures as needed.
    • Ensure adequate inventory levels while adhering to industry inventory management principles (e.g. FIFO, FEFO).
    • Utilize ERP system to monitor demand, track orders, manage supplier contracts, and analyze purchasing data to drive informed decision-making.
    • Supplier Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, conducting regular performance evaluations, Quality-related actions, and implementing improvement plans as needed.
    • Contract Negotiation: Negotiate favorable terms and conditions with suppliers, including pricing, payment terms, and service level agreements.
    • Market Analysis: Stay abreast of market trends, pricing fluctuations, and regulatory changes affecting the chemical and commodity industry, providing insights to inform procurement decisions.
    • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, such as supplier disruptions, price volatility, and quality issues.
    • Cost Optimization: Continuously seek opportunities to optimize costs through supplier rationalization, value engineering, and process improvements.
    • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including production, R&D, quality assurance, and finance teams, to ensure alignment of procurement activities with business objectives.
    • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and company policies, particularly concerning environmental, health, and safety requirements.
    • Performance Tracking: Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to procurement, such as on-time delivery, cost savings, and supplier performance, and take corrective actions as needed.
    • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement function, leveraging best practices and innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
    • 3-5 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management within a manufacturing environment.
    • Experience using procurement software or ERP systems.

    Skills and Proficiencies

    • Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain effective supplier relationships.
    • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook. PowerBI a plus.
    • Capable of working autonomously and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
    • Demonstrated active listening skills, emotional intelligence, and the capability to build trust and rapport over time.
