LOCATION:
Weaver High School


PRIMARY FUNCTION:


Performs administrative and clerical duties of a confidential and responsible nature requiring knowledge of internal and district wide systems policy and procedures in a school environment.


TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Compose or transcribe from rough draft correspondence, memoranda and school bulletins.
  • Assistant with maintenance of principal's calendar of meetings and school events.
  • Arrange for substitute teacher coverage through automated callin service. Monitor proper sign in procedures and assignment area.
  • Process payroll for staff.
  • Oversee the maintenance of all staff attendance via Frontline.
  • Assist the monitoring of student attendance and input into system computer; maintain class size counts or delegate to staff member.
  • Monitor paraeducators coverage in required classrooms; report findings to principal on a daily basis.
  • Oversee the development and/or maintenance of field trip logs; requests for approval, recording of activity, forwarding to appropriate departments.
  • Greet visitors, answer and screen calls in a professional manner and assist staff.
  • Develop and/or maintain fire drill log.
  • Develop and/or maintain a monthly log of suspensions; notifying parents accordingly.
  • Perform other clerical and/or administrative duties as required by the principal.
  • Responsible for overseeing financial systems (Student Activity, Requisitions (ereq and orders) and Grants)
  • Assist Principal with maintaining school budget and contracts as needed.
  • Attend Professional Learning training as requested during work hours.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Knowledge of financial reconciliation principles and practices.
  • Ability to work and make decisions in accordance with rules, regulations and departmental policy and procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff.
  • Ability to exercise professionalism in dealing with the public, students, and staff.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use Standard English grammar with correct spelling, punctuation and letter form.
  • Ability to make basic arithmetical computations with speed and accuracy.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED supplemented by business courses.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions and work within difficult time constraints.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalency with at least three years of responsible clerical experience, preferably in a school environment.

REQUIREMENTS:


SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary in accordance with Hartford Federation of School Secretaries, Salary Grid , $48,652-$65,259. Twelve
- month work year. Non-certified.


EVALUATION:

Evaluations are conducted annually.
