The Director of Surgical Services is a key leadership position responsible for directing the activities and resources of the surgical services department to achieve both departmental and organizational objectives.
This role requires a dynamic individual with strong leadership skills and extensive experience in managing surgical services in a critical care hospital setting.
As the Director of Surgical Services, you will lead and coordinate the activities of the surgical services department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities:
Departmental Leadership
Direct and oversee the daily operations of 9 OR and 2 Endo Suites in the main hospital, as well as 4 OR and 2 Endo Suites at the outpatient surgery center.
Total full-time equivalents (FTEs) supervised: 60 in the main hospital and 25 in the outpatient surgery center.
Procedural Oversight
Ensure the efficient and effective utilization of resources to meet the surgical services department's goals and objectives.
Oversee a total of 4346 procedures annually (as of 2022), monitoring and improving processes to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and policies related to surgical services.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and adherence to best practices in surgical care.
Collaboration:
Collaborate with other department leaders and healthcare professionals to optimize patient care pathways.
Foster interdisciplinary communication and teamwork to enhance the overall patient experience.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field.
ACLS certification required upon hire.
Arizona State Registered RN License.
5 years of experience managing 15 or more operating room (OR) suites.
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Director of Surgical Services in a critical care hospital.
5 or more years of experience in upper management within a critical care hospital.
