    Pathways Vermont Community Center - Peer Support Specialist -

    Part Time - $1500 Hiring Bonus Available*

    The Company: Pathways Vermont is a dynamic nonprofit agency committed to permanently ending homelessness and offering innovative mental health services through ongoing supportive social work.

    The Role: The peer support specialist provides mental health support and services to community members. They will have their own experiences of mental health challenges and will provide services from a perspective guided by their own experience. The peer support specialist builds deep authentic, mutual relationships with folks they support in group and one on one settings. The Community Center offers daytime drop-in and scheduled peer support hours. This position is supervised by the Community Center Supervisor.

    Available Positions: One

    Location: In Person (Pathways Vermont Community Center (PVCC) 279 N. Winooski Ave, Burlington VT 05401)

    Schedule: 20 hours weekly; 9:30am-1:30pm Mon-Fri (with some flexibility as needed by program)

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide peer support services to young adults and adults in Chittenden county who are experiencing mental health challenges or other exceptional experiences during drop-in hours, scheduled one-on-one meetings, or peer support groups.
    • Participate in cleaning, general upkeep, collection of data, and regular reporting for Pathways Community Center and its facilities.
    • Participate in staff meetings, co-reflection, individual supervision and trainings.
    • Assist in the development and management of activities and events at PVCC.
    • Attendance at the annual All Staff and Programmatic Retreats is an expectation of employment with Pathways Vermont, unless excused by the employee's manager/HR. Retreats are held on workdays, during normal working hours, and are fully paid.
    • Other Duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    • Personal experience with mental health challenges, exceptional mental health experiences, or homelessness and a willingness and ability to connect with others from a peer perspective
    • Ability to connect with individuals from different backgrounds and life experiences.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
    • Trained in and commitment to the values of Intentional Peer Support (or commitment to be trained within 6 months of hiring).
    • Willingness to self-reflect, learn, and practice new ways of being in relationships
    • Risk and discomfort tolerance

    Compensation:

    • $20/Hour
    • $1500 Hiring Bonus Available*

    *Hiring bonus will be paid out in the first payroll cycle after the successful completion of the 60 day Orientation period
