    SUMMARY

    The Accounting Manager supports the management of the daily accounting department functions and ensures the general ledger is reconciled and account balances are accurate using Sage Intacct. He/she is a key member of the finance team and works closely with the rest of the Finance team on the accuracy of financial transactions. He/she is instrumental in supporting the Director of Finance in developing and maintaining a solid team. This position is a key role at St. Vincent de Paul Society of San Francisco that assists with building financial stability and accounting according to GAAP requirements and standards. The Accounting Manager must be able to get into the details, but also see the big picture with the assistance of the Director of Finance. This is a Full-time, Exempt, Non-Union position.

    SALARY AND BENEFIT OVERVIEW

    The salary range for this position is $100k - $125k annually DOE. Kaiser HMO paid in full for employee. Voluntary dental, life, and vision insurance. 403b retirement plan with employer paid match after 1 year of employment. Ten vacation and ten sick days accrued per year. Two personal floating holidays and twelve and a half holidays offered per year. Employee Assistance Program

    The primary functions of the Accounting Manager include the following:

    • Manage and oversee the organization's accounting functions adhering to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
    • Manage the monthly financial close and account reconciliations, ensuring timeliness and accuracy of recording transactions.
    • Supports the preparation of the annual budget, tax, and special projects in conjunction with the Director of Finance.
    • Supervise and support other members of the Finance team.


    Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Manage and oversee the accounting functions including auditing and reconciling G/L accounts, accounts receivable/payable, payroll, and financial reporting adhering to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, internal policies and procedures, and funding agency regulations.
    • Ensure timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.
    • Review monthly account reconciliations and assist other Finance staff members in resolving variances, as necessary.
    • Supervise, mentor, and support two (2) finance staff.
    • Acting as the contact point for all accounting/finance inquiries and directing the inquiries to applicable personnel in the Finance department.
    • Assist the Director of Finance with banking and investment requirements.
    • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and other financial reports as required.
    • Assist in the preparation of the annual audit, 990 tax, and other required government filings, and business analysis
    • Continually monitor and analyze G/L accounts to ensure integrity, accuracy, and control of data.
    • Assists and works closely with the Senior Accountant and Accountant on the financial records of grants and contracts, including maintenance of documentation on all matters related to grants, ensuring all reporting requirements are met, advising staff on allowable and unallowable costs, and ensuring timely submission of payroll, invoices and request for funds.
    • Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards, guidelines, etc.
    • Respond and assist the Senior Accountant on requests for special reports and inquiries regarding account balances, remaining balance to spend for grants/contracts, and other accounting information.
    • Ensure a clean and timely audit in conjunction with the Director of Finance.
    • Assists in the implementation of new procedures to enhance the workflow of the department.
    • Coordinate monthly and year-end closings, assisting in the preparation of monthly financial status reports.
    • Support the Director of Finance with specific projects.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    The successful candidate will possess personal initiative and work collaboratively as a member of a diverse team. The individual must possess an accounting degree, strong ethics, excellent analytical and data entry skills, and strong verbal and written English skills. Candidate must possess excellent ability to handle complex accounting problems in a highly visible role.

    Requirements:

    • BA degree in Accounting or Business Management with accounting emphasis.
    • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible accounting experience in a not-for-profit organization.
    • Demonstrated leadership ability, initiative, team management, and interpersonal skills
    • Thorough knowledge of not-for-profit accounting.
    • Excellent ability to resolve complex accounting issues.
    • Ability to use a PC and navigate Microsoft Windows.
    • Must possess advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite such as Excel, Word, and Outlook.
    • Ability to work independently and as a team.
    • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
    • Excellent organizational skills and ability to remain focused while adhering to deadlines.
    • Experience with financial management, reporting, and administration of public and privately funded contracts and grants
    • Working knowledge of Sage Intacct accounting software.
