Director of New Business Development - Baltimore, United States - InsideHigherEd

    Default job background
    Administrative Jobs ,
    Description

Founded with the mission of "Scholarship and Science for Social Change," the William H. Gates Sr. Institute for Population and Reproductive Health (GI) has been a trailblazer for innovation in the fields of family planning, reproductive health, and population dynamics for almost 25 years. We have a strong track record of positive impact – whether we are supporting local partner capacity or translating science and evidence into policies, programs, and practice.

To continue achieving success, we rely on an expansive global network. Of the more than 370 institutions and local governments we have partnered with since our establishment in 1999, more than 90% are based in the global south. This network allows us to use a synergistic approach to create positive disruptions through all of our GI Global Programs.

In this next phase of our work, we will expand our engagement with non-traditional partners with a diversified funding base, continue to challenge the traditional power structures inherent in development work, and champion equity, transparency, and inclusive decision-making that strengthens country-based work and leadership.

We are seeking a Director of New Business Development who will lead all business development strategies for GI. This includes developing a business development strategy with clear deliverables and a timeline to achieve deliverables; working with GI leadership, finance teams and GI partners to prospect, network, and identify new funding opportunities, and develop, write and coordinate all proposals, in line with GI's new vision, mission and goals. GI's Director is responsible for ensuring the quality of all aspects of the proposal process and will manage proposal opportunities from inception through proposal submission. The Director of New Business Development will also advise GI's leadership team on relevant trends and will be expected to create new innovative funding models.

This role requires the Director to coordinate and support GI country program leadership throughout Africa and Asia to identify, capture and develop new business opportunities; ensure effective strategic partnerships and donor relationships; and foster effective and responsive cross-functional participation from within the team.

    • Represent GI's business development interests at relevant meetings, events, and among relevant organizations, draft reports and talking points and set action plans for follow up, as necessary.
    • Engage GI's partners, in coordination with their New Business Development staff, to develop a strategy that includes global, regional, and/or country specific funding opportunities and help build their capacity in proposal development.
    • Maintain and keep up to date, a detailed proposal tracker including opportunities in different stages of development. Archive both successful and unsuccessful concept notes and proposals for future use.

    Leadership & Overall Management
