About the Permian

Straddling West Texas and Southeastern New Mexico over an area roughly the size of Kansas, the Permian is the most prolific oil and gas basin in America and the engine behind the country's energy renaissance. Nationally, it provides about 40% of oil and 15% of gas production and plays a critical role in making the U.S. a leading energy exporter.

A key asset for ExxonMobil, the Basin accounts for about 40% of the Corporation's net oil and gas production in the U.S. in 2021, with significant future growth potential. Production reached more than 550,000 barrels per day in 2022 and is expected to surpass 800,000 barrels per day by 2027. Many of these molecules travel down to ExxonMobil's facilities along the Gulf of Mexico, where they are transformed into high-value finished products such as jet fuel and lubricants. The Permian Basin business unit also has the distinction of being the first at ExxonMobil to unveil and execute a plan for net zero Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions in operated assets by 2030, as part of the Corporation's broader 2050 net zero ambition.

What role you will play in our team

We are looking for a Regulatory Analyst to support our West Texas Operations within the Permian Basin. You will office in Midland, TX and support compliance to federal and state rules and regulations as they pertain to oil and gas wells and surface facilities.

What you will do

• Evaluate proposed work plans and compare against federal and/or state requirements.
• Interpret rules and regulations, define requirements, operationalize compliance and train customers on compliance workflows.
• Prepare and submit documentation to the Texas Railroad Commission regarding comingling, completions, initial/potentials, workover updates, and well integrity (H5,H15), etc.
• Interface with federal and state agencies and participate in regular inspections as needed.

About you

Skills and Qualifications

• Self-starter who has high attention to detail and follow-through.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to interface and cultivate relationships with field personnel.
• Ability to work long hours when business critical tasks must be completed within a timeframe.
• Strong organization skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks timely and accurately.
• General understanding of upstream oil & gas facilities, equipment and operations
  
  

Preferred Qualifications/ Experience

• Substantial working knowledge of Federal and Texas State surface and subsurface regulations
• 5+ years of oil and gas experience
• In depth knowledge of submitting and accessing Texas Railroad Commission data
• In-depth knowledge of regulations required to drill, produce, rework, and abandon oil and gas wells and water disposal/injection wells in Texas.
