    Position Summary:

    The Business Systems Analyst will support the Finance team by working with its members to understand and then communicate financial reporting requirements to Information Technology (IT) personnel. As a Business Systems Analyst, this person will join a small group that functions as the primary liaison between the Finance team and the IT team.

    The ideal candidate will be tech-savvy, analytically minded, and capable of handling broad scope projects that have short to long-term focus. This person will elicit requirements, ensure the scope is clearly defined and understood, and comprehensively test changes to various reporting environments. They will need to be an excellent communicator to articulate business requirements to system support personnel that do not have an appreciation for the underlying business needs.

    Role Responsibilities:
    • Obtain a basic understanding of Wilton Re's life (re)insurance business and a thorough understanding of our DataMart (SQL server database) reporting paradigm.
    • Manage the day-to-day maintenance of GL accounts, reports, and other DataMart elements.
    • Continuously update and improve existing process documentation and develop new process documentation as needed.
    • Facilitate requirements gathering sessions; design and develop accurate, efficient, and detailed business requirements.
    • Create detailed test plans and expected results, develop use cases, and assist in the overall user acceptance and regression testing processes.
    • Run queries on SQL databases for the business as needed.
    • Function as systems administrator for various SaaS platforms; including adding new users and maintain security groupings.
    • Act as a liaison with our IT and Operations teams and maintain a positive relationship between departments.
    • Assist the business with implementing new business intelligence tools (Power BI, Power Pivot, etc) and developing reporting dashboards.
    • Work on ad hoc projects and assist Management otherwise as needed.
    Basic Qualifications:
    • 3+ years' experience as a Business Analyst, Data Analyst, Data Scientist or Data Engineer.
    • Proficient in defining business and/or systems scope and objectives based on user needs.
    • Experience in building and/or executing test plans, and user acceptance testing.
    • Ability to see downstream implications resulting from change in scope and/or requirements.
    • Excellent written and communication skills.
    • High level of proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, and ability to collaborate with colleagues within and across departments.
    • Self-motivated with strong time management skills and an ability to handle various tasks simultaneously.
    • Ability to identify areas of process improvement and suggest and develop innovative solutions.
    • Insurance or Reinsurance industry, accounting and/or financial reporting background a plus.
    • Proficient in SQL, VBA, or similar programming languages a plus.
    • Experience with Blackline, NetSuite, Workiva and GAIN Compliance a plus.
    • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power Pivot, Power BI and other BI tools a plus.
    Required Education / Certifications:
    • BS or BA in Finance, Accountancy, Computer Science, or Data Analytics, preferred.

    Hybrid Structure

    Minimal to no travel required.

    Base salary/hourly rate range for this position in Connecticut is between $80,000 and $105,000. Please note that specific compensation decisions are based upon a variety of job-related factors as permitted by law, including geographic location, credentials, skills, education, training, and experience.

    Base salary is just one component of Wilton Re's total compensation package for employees. Additional compensation includes annual performance-based bonus, 401K with employer contribution, and profit-sharing program. Employee may also be eligible for long-term incentives (equity). All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
