Our Financial Services department focuses on financial services and supports banks, insurance companies, and asset managers in being successful in an ever-changing and fast-paced world.

The 'Tax Controversy' practice group of EY Law in Hamburg, within the Financial Services department, specializes in the prevention, management, and resolution of tax risks and conflicts in the financial sector.

In this role, you will take on diverse tasks:


  • Internal investigations and preventive advice for defending against tax and criminal risks (compliance)
  • Consultation on comprehensive criminal and administrative law issues and representation of domestic and foreign financial service companies, their board members, executives, and employees to financial, law enforcement, and supervisory authorities, as well as financial and criminal courts
  • Specialization in tax procedural law and advice on compliance projects for implementing tax transparency regulations and reporting obligations (e.g. DAC6, StUmgBG, KYC/AML, UK Corporate Criminal Offence, Tax-CMS)
  • Consultation of financial service companies beyond traditional tax criminal law, with high criminal and administrative law relevance at the intersection of law, taxes, compliance, and antifinancial crime, with strong connections to process and IT consulting
