    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Senior Manager/Associate Director, Pharmacy Policy oversees ACHP's drug policy portfolio, championing clinical advances and policy reforms to ensure affordable therapies for Americans. This position convenes and manages ACHP member executive communities, such as Pharmacy Directors, and collaborates with ACHP's Government Relations leaders and other subject matter experts to foster dialogue and spearhead initiatives for nonprofit regional health plans. The Senior Manager / Associate Director works closely with ACHP's Clinical Innovation team to conduct research and convene medical leaders. The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter who effectively executes clinical, policy and advocacy deliverables. The role requires a nimble thinker who is equally comfortable engaging with medical professionals and policy experts on one of the most pressing issues in health care today.

    This individual advances ACHP's mission by blending research, analysis, content development for learning events, and relationship-building within member companies and with Washington influencers in the public and private sectors. This role is for an aspiring leader who will be recognized as an emerging thought leader and expert.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Policy development, analysis and education


    • In consultation with the SVP, Federal Affairs, lead development of a robust set of public policy proposals to keep ACHP in the vanguard of pharmacy and drug pricing reforms


    • Shape ACHP's pharmacy portfolio by incorporating feedback from clinical leaders and sharing policy developments with member executives to create a meaningful bi-directional relationship


    • Design and deliver ACHP's shared learning agenda for Clinical Leader Communities through in-person conferences and virtual convenings


    • Represent ACHP externally, advancing the association's pharmacy advocacy agenda and building fruitful relationships with key external stakeholders such as policymakers and other trade associations


    • Create compelling deliverables that present this complex topic in a convincing and easy-to-understand manner that advances the agenda


    • Execute policy and environmental scans and research to inform strategic goals; summarize relevant legislative and regulatory developments for internal and member company audiences

    Teamwork and collaboration


    • Partner with other ACHP departments to engage members in health policy discussions


    • Codevelop with Federal Affairs and Communications colleagues in the creation of compelling advocacy message campaigns on pharmacy issues


    • Support successful research and educational efforts within the ACHP Clinical Innovation team. Internally takes a leadership role in cross-functional work, including supporting ACHP's board-level policy committee and Board of Directors' meetings

    PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

    Minimum qualifications


    • Bachelor's degree required with a minimum of 2 years of related professional experience in the health sector or public policy arena with a strong understanding of pharmaceutical issues


    • Ideal candidates have experience working with pharmaceutical companies, health care companies, health care trade associations or health care research organizations


    • Experience in building external relationships and fostering engagement with clinical executives, which leverages strong written and oral communication skills


    • Understanding of government health programs such as Medicare, Medicaid and the Marketplace


    • Commitment to working in a team environment with an emphasis on collaboration and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders


    • Expertise in MS Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and social media tools (LinkedIn, Twitter)

    Preferred qualifications


    • Experience in a membership organization


    • Advanced degree a plus; 6+ years of professional experience


    • Expertise in pharmacy operations and / or developing drug pricing/pharmacy policy


    • Demonstrated research and analytical capabilities


    • Demonstrated success advancing policy recommendations via legislative or regulatory channels

    WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS


    • Work is in an office environment


    • Hybrid office position/must be located in the DMV area


    • Some travel required
