High School Attendance Officer


Under the direction of the Principal and/or designee, the Attendance Officer is responsible for enforcing the rules and policies of the school for proper school attendance.

They shall extend every effort to see that students attend school regularly when not ill and that they report to class promptly.

The officer shall also work cooperatively with teachers, counselors, school administrators, and parents to assure compliance with attendance laws, regulations, and other related duties as required.


The Attendance Officer works daily with other school leaders, Directors of OBR, the Emotional Support Team, and Student Services Team members.

As a member of the "Engagement Team", the Attendance Officer will focus on all students, and their daily attendance, and provide the support and resources according to individual student needs.


Achieving academic excellence requires that the Attendance Officer work collaboratively with their leadership team to direct and nurture faculty members, staff members, and stakeholders of the school community.

The Attendance Officer must communicate effectively with the leadership team, and show professionalism with faculty, staff, students, and parents.

Not all duties and responsibilities are listed, however, the Attendance Officer is expected to assist in any way to ensure that the OBR mission is carried out as set by the CEO and the board of directors.

The primary responsibilities of the OBRCHS Attendance Officer are categorized within the following themes:
As an attendance officer, your primary responsibilities include tracking student attendance and enforcing rules about truancy.

While prevention is your primary duty, your duties may also include initiating disciplinary action if I student is consistently absent.

If a student has an unexcused absence, you first contact the parents. You then track down students with extensive absences from school and evaluate the situation.

Your longterm goal as an attendance officer is dropout prevention, which means you must train teachers in ways to encourage student attendance.

You also work with police officers or social workers to improve attendance.


Professionalism:


  • Supports the implementation of the One Bright Ray Community High School's vision and mission and approved Virtual Student Code of Conduct that is approved by the CEO.
  • Serves as an educational leader of the school and must assist in the delivery of policies, regulations, and procedures set by OBR, Inc.
  • Ensure compliance with all laws, COVID19 guidelines and policies.
  • The Attendance Officers are members of the OBRCHS "Engagement Team" and will work collaboratively Emotional Support Team members and Student Services members.
  • The Attendance Officer will reach out as needed to the other Departmental Support Staff of the
  • College & Career Counselors and the Educational Support Teachers as needed, according to the individual students.
  • Establish a professional, respectful rapport with faculty, staff, students, parents, guardians, visitors, and established community partnerships.
  • Display the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with students, parents, guardians, leadership team, school personnel, departmental support staff, school visitors, and community partners.
  • Participates, supports, and may manage, if requested on the various administration functions, such as, Virtual Meetings on "Google Meet" and Phone Conferences with faculty, staff, students, parents, guardians, and outside community partnerships who are the resources who work with the students outside of OBRCHS.
  • Protects the confidentiality of the emotional, social, and academic student information or records, and information gained.

Communication and Documentation:


  • As the member of the OBR Engagement Team, the Attendance Officer will communicate daily to Engagement Team any concerns and provide solutions to maintain a high level of student engagement.
  • Completes in a timely manner and fashion specific related student reports, SAIPS
  • Student Attendance Improvement Plans, the input of all the daily student attendance calls and log entries in to PowerSchool and Infinite Campus
  • Completes in a timely manner and fashion the daily reconciliation of all attendance in PowerSchool and Infinite Campus
  • Provides Administration of Daily Attendance reports.
  • Provides awareness on specific student concerns, to administration, faculty, and specific departmental support staff from Ed. Support, EST, College & Career, and Students Services.
  • Daily communication on student meetings, concerns, issues, and conversations, outcomes and follow ups are to be documented in PowerSchool and communicated to Principals if necessary.
  • Collaborate weekly with Principals on agenda building for weekly campus Faculty/Staff Meetings with updated enrollment, Daily, weekly, monthly and YTD ADA
