Our client is a national specialty building supply manufacturer and retailer. In business for 40+ years, sell products through retail channels around the world.The company employs 75 employees in 11 locations across the United States and generates sales between $25+ million in revenue.
The Company has a long history of profitability and stability.Position Summary:
The Controller will report to the Company CEO and will lead the accounting department and be part of the Company management team.
Accounting Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate month-end close for 3 related companies, plus oversee accounting for 4 smaller entities. Reconcile balance sheet accounts, prepare financials and consolidation.
Oversee accounting staff and HR/payroll staff as needed.
Adjust standard costs, monitor prices and margins and supervise physical counts of manufactured inventory.
Monitor results and champion an overall profit focused mentality in all store branches.
Responsible for corporate insurance, benefit plan administration and annual renewals.
Publish a wide variety of sales reports to assist management team and sales department.
Assist CEO and Board with many special projects requiring complex pro-forma ad hoc reports.
Responsible for government registrations and environmental filings for several products sold by the Company.
Maintain professional relationships with bankers, insurers, attorneys, outside CPAs.
Prepare tax data and monitor all Federal and state income tax filings with outside CPAs.
Assist IT department with MS Dynamics NAV accounting software issues.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting required. CPA certification preferred.
Prior experience in a multi-location manufacturing and sales environment strongly preferred.
Strong team leader, effective trainer and able to work well with company managers across department lines.
Accounting/Finance skill set:
manufactured inventory costing; multi-entity branch and departmental reporting; forecast and modeling skills to help with potential M&A activity.
Tax skills:
Experience with multi-state apportionment and pass through taxes; IC-DISC calculations.
Familiarity with MS Dynamics Nav V18, Jet Reports and Vicinity manufacturing software are each a plus.
Compensation:
Starting base salary of up to $175k.
