Cruise is looking for a Staff Sensor Integration Engineer to develop solutions for the physical integration of sensors and their supporting hardware into vehicle platforms. In this role you will analyze, model, and optimize in-situ sensor functionality and performance using a variety of tools. You will collaborate with mechanical engineers and designers to harmonize sensor functionality and performance with vehicle packaging and class-A styling. You will define workflows to analyze and validate in-situ sensor functionality and performance against detailed requirements.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Decomposing requirements from various stakeholders to hardware requirements
• Modeling field-of-view and other in-situ performance parameters to balance performance, cost, vehicle styling, and other requirements
• Collaborating with simulation and test engineers to establish methods for verifying models and/or characterizing sensor and vehicle performance
• Developing an overall subsystem design that harmonizes the autonomous driving system performance, cost, mass, power consumption, vehicle styling, and vehicle performance such as aerodynamics
• Collaborating with advanced vehicle design engineers to execute physical integration, packaging, and optimization of sensors and auxiliary components into vehicle platforms

You should apply for this role if you have the following qualifications:

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
• 8+ years of postgraduate experience developing automotive or aerospace components or assemblies
• Strong fundamentals in sensor physics
• Experience with key integration concepts such as tolerance, vibration, thermal, power, and data
• Experience with industrial design for automotive or consumer products
• Experience with a full product lifecycle from conception to mass production
• Proficiency with CAD tools such as NX, Solidworks, CATIA, etc.
• Technical collaborator with multidisciplinary teams including electrical, mechanical, and software engineering

Bonus points

• • Experience integrating sensors such as lidar, radar, camera, and/or acoustics/ultrasonics

The salary range for this position is $148, ,500. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
