    BlackRock SMA Solutions helps clients customize portfolios for unique tax, values-alignment, or investment exposures across direct indexing, fixed income, active equity, and multi-asset.

    About this Role:


    We are looking for a Senior Client Relationship Manager to help establish and deepen long-term relationships, primarily with our institutional clients from Single Family Offices (SFOs), Multi-Family Offices (MFOs), Endowments & Foundations (E&F) and Consultants.

    Ideal candidates must have substantial business development experience in the investment management industry.

    He/she will be responsible for implementing strategic opportunities with institutional clients fitting the right type of profile, particularly in the UHNW and E&F segment of the market.

    A strong team player is critical, as he/she will work creatively and collaboratively with colleagues across a number of departments, such as Americas Institutional Business, Portfolio Management, Research, Operations, and Marketing.


    The position requires strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong analytical and investment skills given SMA Solution's Multi-Asset offerings across both Aperio Direct Indexing and Fixed Income Active.

    It also requires a deep understanding of institutional clients, and is helpful (but not required) to have experience with Separately Managed Accounts (SMAs).

    Key Responsibilities


    • In close partnership with BlackRock's Relationship Managers and team leads, cultivate new business relationship opportunities with SFOs, MFOs and E&Fs primarily focused on highly customized mandates that require a complex solution. These solutions may include values-alignment, custom factor portfolios, completion portfolios, hyper-customized equity exposure, as well as uses in a portfolio for both the taxable and municipal bond market.
    • Manage large, strategic partnerships with SMA Solutions across institutional mandates. A key measure of success will be the individual's ability to grow, retain, and deepen these relationships as well.
    • Maintain and expand existing client relationships. Collaborating with SMA Solutions and BlackRock colleagues and working effectively within a team environment is essential.
    • Articulate SMA custom solution set and communicate the firm's unique value proposition as a solution provider, not simply a product provider. A key differentiator of Blackrock's SMA Solutions is partnering with clients to create custom portfolio solutions that meet their needs.
    • Must be able to deliver expert-level presentations to clients and prospects, either alone or with BlackRock colleagues.
    • Contribute to the development and support of presentations and other content for the entire firm to use.
    • Represent the firm at industry conferences and events.
    • Medium amount of travel is expected. Location is flexible, although must be in a major metropolitan city.
    Qualifications


    • Superior team-building skills and proven ability to leverage resources of the firm to the benefit of the client.
    • Strong business development experience (10-plus years) in the investment management industry, particularly the UHNW or Institutional space.
    • Excellent sales, networking, negotiation, communication, and presentation skills. Must have a demonstrated track record of building a client base of key, senior-level, decision makers.
    • Strong understanding of investment concepts of the equity and fixed income markets. Knowledge of tax and estate planning techniques for UHNW investors a plus. Strong understanding of factors and custom equity index exposure as well as taxable and municipal bond portfolios is also a plus.
    • MBA and/or CFA preferred.
    • Degree in Finance or Economics preferred.
    • Familiarity with Salesforce CRM a plus.
    For California only the salary range for this position is $190,000 - $240,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits.

    BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
