Murdoch Developmental Center is currently recruiting for a Health Care Technician II located at Newport Cottage and reports to the Unit Manager.
This position on the Male Unit and serves as a Supervisory technician and monitors the care provided by the Health Care Technician I's providing feedback to staff as needed.
Job responsibilities include the following and any other duties assigned:* must be capable of intervening with individuals who are agitated and monitoring safety concerns
This is a full-time position and eligible for the full State benefits package including health insurance, paid sick/vacation/holidays, retirement, etc.
Direct Care positions require flexibility.
Positions are typically given two leave days each week, but these days vary due to the seven (7) day per week operation of the Center.
Weekend and Holiday work assignments are included in scheduling. Shift changes may be required for coverage.About Murdoch Developmental Center:
MDC is one of three regional developmental centers operating as part of the Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities (DSOHF).
Murdoch has approximately 1600 employees providing residential services and supports to people with IDD, complex behavioral challenges and/or medical conditions whose clinical treatment needs exceed the level of care available in the community.
In addition to regional admissions for adults, MDC operates four statewide programs, which include support for children and adolescents with complex needs.
Centrally located, MDC is convenient to Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill. To be considered for employment, applicants must be in good standing with the North Carolina Health Care Personnel Registry.ALL employees of Murdoch Center are designated as ESSENTIAL for adverse weather and emergency events.

Management Preferences:
Two years work experience in a healthcare support services setting.
This position DOES NOT require NA I/NA II certification. Some state job postings say you can qualify by an "equivalent combination of education and experience." If that language appears below, then you may qualify through EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience, OR a

High school or General Educational Development diploma and one year of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus
Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements:
A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time employee who works 30 to 40 hours per week is eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working less than 40 hours per week).
(1) the employee has held a position in North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date);
(2) the employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency;
(3) or DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
