Per G.S c1) (37), this position is Exempt from all provisions of NC General Statute Chapter 126 (State Human Resources Act) with the exception of Articles 6 and 7.

This position is located in the Psychology Services Department. The Department operates from a strong theoretical base in Applied Behavior Analysis. Responsibilities include

* completing basic and specialized diagnostic assessments of cognitive and adaptive skills.
* functional assessments of severe behavior disorders.
* developing comprehensive training and treatment programs
* providing staff training.
* providing supervision of behavior specialists and masters level psychologists.
* assisting and consulting with other staff in conducting systematic analyses of intervention efforts, and participating in interdisciplinary process.
* working with children and adults on the autism spectrum as well as people with co-occurring mental health and developmental disability diagnoses.
* assist in specialized needs assessment clinics.

Scheduled work hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday. Flexibility is required to meet facility needs. This position is designated mandatory and must report or stay overnight during adverse weather events.

Management will consider a trainee for this position if no fully qualified applicants apply

Murdoch Developmental Center is a 24/7 state residential facility located in Butner, NC, near the Research Triangle area. Murdoch serves individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD). Murdoch is a caring community where professionals work with people of various ages, cognitive and functional abilities. Qualified applicants must document on the application that they possess all of the following:

Advanced, demonstrated knowledge and application of psychological principles, theories, methods and procedures especially in the area of intellectual disabilities/developmental disabilities.
Advanced experience in functional analysis and intervention with people who have severe behavior disorders.
Experience in teaching and maintaining adaptive skills.
Advanced experience and knowledge in application and interpretation of psychological testing, including experience in the assessment of intellectual disabilities/developmental disabilities.
Demonstrated effective staff training and management strategies and ability to relate appropriately to clients and staff members.

Management Preferences

Training, education, and experience in applied behavior analysis working with people who have intellectual disabilities/developmental disabilities and behavior challenges.

Experience working with people with autism spectrum disorders and people with co-occurring developmental disabilities and mental health diagnoses is highly preferred.

Supervisory experience is beneficial.

Eligibility for licensure in North Carolina under the provisions of the NC Psychology Practice Act (G.S and two years of professional psychological experience, one of which must be postdoctoral. Refer to the law for specifics regarding experience requirements.

Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus

Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements:

A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time employee who works 30 to 40 hours per week is eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working less than 40 hours per week).

An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:

(1) the employee has held a position in North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date);

(2) the employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency;

(3) or DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.

This Sign-on Bonus is contingent upon budget and final eligibility determination as of the effective date of hire. Additional information regarding the Sign-on Policy can be found here.
