    Job Duties


    The Virginia Beach WIC program is seeking a highly motivated outgoing individual to join our Leadership Team The successful candidate will be one who is confident with public speaking and has strong communication skills.

    This team member trains staff on the eligibility component of the program, determines WIC income eligibility for participants, instructs clients about program guidelines and assists with issuing benefits using the E-WIC card.

    Job duties also include working closely with the WIC Coordinator to submit purchase orders for nutrition education and outreach materials as needed for the district, tracking equipment inventory, and organizing outreach events for the year.

    This position will also provide updates to the VA Beach Facebook page weekly.

    The Program Support Tech will work with other agencies to continue building community partnerships and independently conducts public speaking engagements to support program goals.

    Completion of training and nutrition modules/assessments required within 90 days. The candidate may be asked to travel between the four Virginia Beach WIC offices to perform duties as needed. This is a restricted position which is solely funded by the WIC Federal grant, renewable annually in September. (Employment is contingent on the continued availability of grant funds.)


    Minimum Qualifications

    Must have knowledge of basic nutrition principles of women, infants and children, general office procedures, English and business math.
    Experience in dealing with the public in a customer service position with previous supervisory experience preferred.
    Computer skills/experience with Windows XP required.
    Knowledge of WIC Program Federal and State regulations and previous WIC administrative experience preferred.


    Additional Considerations

    Ability to interview clients to obtain personal financial information.
    Skilled in communicating effectively, both orally and in writing
    WIC administrative experience
