    Job DescriptionThe Senior Quality and Safety Manager is accountable for educating behavioral health staff related to quality and safety needs, and recommending solutions to address quality improvement and risk management issues.

    This individual may also address educational, certification and competency issues for the staff, and coordinates TJC and other regulatory standards and related initiatives through interdisciplinary communication with MSH quality and safety leadership.

    ResponsibilitiesProvides leadership in creating new educational programs based on professional standards, performance improvement data and regulatory agency (i.e., Joint Commission, OMH, DMH, OASAS, etc.) recommendations.

    This includes assessment of staff educational needs and develops training programs to address these needs.

    Provides individual and group education programs to meet corrective action goals, TJC readiness, and departmental workflows related to quality and safety.

    Collaborates with MSH Quality and Safety leadership to ensure that the highest expectations of regulatory and professional standards are met including documentation compliance.

    S/he provides support to clinical leadership in the development of interdisciplinary standards relevant to the department.
    Co-chairs the monthly Incident Review Committee (IRC), Quality Improvement Committee (QI).

    Member of any additional committees focusing on safety and quality for the department and MSBHC Quality and Safety and Risk Management leadershipCollaborates with other disciplines to identify opportunities for improving patient outcomes and patient experience to reduce future risk and to enhance customer satisfaction.

    Contributes clinical expertise for specialty policies in accordance with hospital, professional and regulatory standards. Partners with Quality and Safety Manager to identify, respond to and investigate potential and actual risk management issues. Report significant events to the appropriate MSBHC leaders and committees as well as local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.

    Supports excellence in the delivery of patient care services, patient management; the unit and clinical service objectives and the goals of the organization.

    Works with site and system leadership to develop performance improvement programs/metrics that support safety and quality goals.
    Other related duties as assignedQualificationsMaster's Degree required, preferably in a health science. Nursing training preferred.

    7 years' experience with a preferred minimum of 2 years in a clinical role and exposure to quality and safety managementDemonstrated knowledge of quality management and/or Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) principles and New York State Department of Mental Hygiene and JCAHO standards and regulationsCurrent NYS clinical licensure in a relevant field (i.e., RN, NP, PA, Social Work, Mental Health Counselor, or related) is required.

    Compensation StatementThe Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements.

    The salary range for this role is $95, $143,175.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need.

    The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
