The Physical Education Assistant is responsible for planning, organizing, conducting and evaluating departmental programs, activities and events under the direct supervision of the Clubhouse Director and providing individual guidance and referrals as needed
_ _at our Navy Yard Clubhouse (006) located in Brooklyn, NY.

**_
This is a part-time position_
_ __working up to 25 hours a week Monday through Friday in the afternoon._**
Essential Duties and Responsibilities for the _After School _
_Youth Program Coordinator (006)_
Position:
  • Recruit members for programs and motivate participation in various physical education activities
  • Ensure the delivery and prompt evaluation of assigned programs and activities
  • Initiate and maintain community contacts; families, schools and other organizations and institutions, as well as collaborate with outside entities to enhance programs and services, as directed
  • Develop and implement new physical initiatives as needed or as directed
  • Participate in organizational meetings and conferences as requested
  • Ensure a healthy, safe environment in program areas
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of program space and equipment, ordering supplies as needed
  • Complete necessary reporting as requested by senior staff
  • Encourage an environment that cultivates leadership and sportsmanship for all members
  • Demonstrate behavior aligned with Madison's core values
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Required Skills/Knowledge for the _After School _
_Youth Program Coordinator (006)_
Position:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with young people from diverse backgrounds, ages 6-18 as well as a range of other organizational personnel in a courteous and professional manner
  • Highly motivated and dedicated to the organizational mission
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential
  • Proven track record of engaging youth in a responsible and mature manner
  • Should possess a degree of expertise in one or more physical activities with a general knowledge of overall athletics
  • High school diploma required, college degree preferred
