    Overview

    The Krienen lab in the Princeton Neuroscience Institute ) is seeking a bright and motivatedfull-time research specialist. Research in the lab focuses on understanding genetic influences that shape the development and evolution of the mammalian brain.

    Research Specialist responsibilities include using and developing cutting edge technologies such as cellular barcoding and single cell genomics as part of an international consortium to comprehensively map cell types in mammalian brains.

    This position provides an excellent opportunity to further develop research skills in neurobiology, genomics-based technology development and computational analysis.

    This is a one-year term position (with the possibility of renewal); preference is given to candidates who can commit to at least 2 years.

    Responsibilities


    • Conduct FACS and molecular biology experiments (DNA and RNA analysis) on brain tissuedissections.
    • Perform histological analysis of brain tissue with confocal microscopy.
    • Contribute to experimental workflows of high-throughput sequencing.
    • Standardize molecular biology workflows and test new protocols
    • Other lab duties as assigned
    Qualifications


    Essential Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree or higher in neuroscience, molecular biology, biochemistry, bioengineering, or a related fieldis required.- Applicant must be highly organized and have exceptional note-taking and communication skills (written andoral).- Applicant must have wet-lab experience and experience in molecular biology techniques (e.g. PCR, cloning,sequencing).

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Masters degree or equivalent in neuroscience, molecular biology, biochemistry, bioengineering, or a related field.
    • Research experience in one or more of the following: neuroanatomy, single-cell sequencing, advanced molecular biology techniques,smFISH/histology/imaging, quantitative/programming skills.
