Description
Job Opening Summary
Supports patient care by monitoring the quality of sterile supplies and the decontamination of equipment per departmental policies/procedures and in accordance with pertinent hospital policies and governmental regulatory agencies.
Plans, assigns and supervises employees engaged in performing a variety of services involved in the ordering processing, receiving and distribution of medical and patient equipment and supplies.
Maintains tracking system; collects and reports departmental metrics. Assists manager with staff scheduling and participates in department staffing as needed. Coordinates in-servicing and staff education.Job Opening Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
High school graduate with 5 years of preferred experience in central sterilization. Certified Operating Room Technician preferred.
High level of interpersonal skills, basic computer experience and knowledge of principles of microbiology, sterilization and aseptic techniques, instrumentation and equipment, and inventory control resource in the area of sterilization technology.
Two (2) years of supervisory experience in health care required.
Strong preference will be given to candidates with surgical technology degree or advanced certification as a CSPDM or CHL. If not certified, certification will be required within one (1) year of employment.
