    Description
    Join the Canacre team in an exciting role working on leading edge infrastructure projects.
    We are technical experts in land, energy, and transportation development delivering accurate, innovative, and agile solutions to our partners. We provide land acquisition, geospatial mapping, data management, web-based GIS, community relations, land feasibility studies, and permitting services.

    Canacre's clients include developers, large scale service providers, and government entities that are involved in the planning and development of energy projects, rights of way, resources, and infrastructure across Canada and the United States.

    Canacre works on large-scale wind and solar power projects, high-voltage transmission lines, pipeline projects, municipal roads projects, and groupings of cellular towers and rooftop antennas.

    The Public Consultation and Engagement Specialist will primarily be responsible for developing and leading public consultation programs on small to large-scale projects and will be involved in all phases of Project work from approvals and pre-construction, through to construction or abandonment.


    In addition, your role will be to:
    Act as a technical lead for stakeholder consultation to project teams
    Cultivate a work environment committed to the health, safety and wellness of employees
    Establish a highly efficient and positive culture where employees are empowered and accountable for areas of responsibility
    Design and lead project-specific public consultation and engagement programs tailored to projects and the communities in which they are located
    Provide specialized advice to project teams on the regulatory requirements with respect to public consultation and design of public consultation and engagement programs to meet those requirements

    Planning (including preparation of materials) and facilitation of community meetings, open houses, workshops and focus groups and public consultation and engagement events.

    Relationship building with key stakeholders
    Act as a resource to project teams facilitating the inclusion of the results of public consultation and engagement into project design or planning
    Maintain detailed and accurate records of communication using Canacre's MapBase system.

    Qualifications:
    Post-secondary degree in Communications, Social Science, or related field of study
    Minimum 6 years professional experience in public consultation and engagement, or related role
    Experience developing and implementing public consultation and engagement programs
    Experienced leading public consultation and engagement teams
    Professional experience working on projects regulated under NEPA or state-equivalent
    Strong working knowledge of public engagement requirements and best practices
    Experience related to energy projects including transmission lines and renewables projects (e.g. solar and wind) would be an asset
    Strong verbal and written communication skills –client communications, etc.
    Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
    Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, prioritizing and decision-making skills
    Excellent attention to detail
    Ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously with minimal supervision
    Detail-oriented, self-motivated and highly organized with strong problem-solving skills
    Ability to build strong, lasting relationships with key stakeholders.
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
    Valid Driver's License, with ability to maintain insurability under the company's insurance carrier
