Job Summary:


Compliance Safety Health Officers will work under general supervision in conducting partial and comprehensive occupational safety and health inspections in all types of industries throughout Arizona to ensure compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act and all standards and rules issued pursuant to the Act.


  • This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures._

Job Duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conducting investigations into occupational safety and health complaints and work-related accidents and fatalities
  • Interviewing employees and management, obtains evidence of regulatory violations using measurements devices and photographs of unsafe conditions and/or reviews mandated records as required by appropriate federal and state laws.
  • Determining whether employees are provided routine safety and health training as well as exposure to hazards in the workplace.
  • Communicating with the employer what to expect following an inspection; developing reports, complete forms of inspections and investigations, prepare narratives, and recommend citations.
  • Entering information into the ADOSH Salesforce system; adding abatement date and time for each serious hazard written.
  • Submitting report to upline management.
  • Answering and generate online complaints from external customers who call or walkin.
  • Requesting, tracking, and verifying abatement for citations issued.
  • Answering and following through on questions from customers.
  • Attending and completing scheduled safety and health training classes to improve upon skills necessary to enhance knowledge in the field and hazard recognition.
  • Participating in the Arizona Management System (AMS).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

  • ADOSH Field Operations Manual (FOM)
  • ICA Policies and Procedures
  • ADOSH Policies and Procedures
  • OSHA standards as well as applicable consensus standards
  • Federal and state occupational safety and health standards applicable to public and private establishments
  • Industrial and construction building standards, manufacturing processes and work techniques to recommend new methods to minimize or eliminate hazardous operations, conditions and practices
  • Knowledge of Windows, Google, Excel, Power Point, Adobe Acrobat and Smartphone Apps; ADOSH Salesforce system

Skill in:

  • Oral and written communication and maintaining interpersonal relationship

  • In determining cost effective and appropriate corrective measures to minimize workplace safety hazards.

Selective Preference(s):

  • Three years of safety and health experience; or Associate degree in safety and health or closely related field with one year of safety and health experience; Bachelors' degree in safety and health or closely related field with little to no experience.

  • Any combination of training and experience that meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs); typical ways KSAs are obtained may include but are not limited to: relevant degree from an accredited college or university, coursework and work experience relevant to the assignment.
