Job Objective:
Under the immediate supervision of Environmental Services Supervisor and Director, performs work with a high degree of accuracy and skill in the cleaning of assigned area, which results in a clean, safe and sterile environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
A. General Cleaning (As Assigned)
- Always uses appropriate chemicals for cleaning
- Always uses appropriate safely equipment
- Always wears appropriate uniform
- Clean Assigned Area
- Performs Discharge cleaning of Patient rooms by answering page from Supervisor
- Responsible for maintaining the hospitals Indoor Plants on all floor
- Responsible for vacuuming of other carpeted areas on the unit
- Routinely shines all stainless steel surfaces
- Routinely washes walls and dust vents insuring that walls are not streaked and kept free or blood, stains, and dust
- Performs other cleaning tasks as assigned
B. General Duties (As Assigned)
- Ensures ES Aide cart/closet is kept neat and clean
- Keeps record of supplies sent outside areas and turns into Supervisor
- Keeps record of supplies used in Medical Office Building
- Operates Hospital Vehicle
- Removes and replaces Sharps container to appropriate area
- Report equipment in need of repair to Supervisor
- Responsible for operating the Box Bailer unit according to procedure
- Routinely checks all supplies; paper towels, toilet tissue, soap; stocks as needed
- Signs in/out daily for required keys/beeper an ensures keys/beeper is returned at end of shift
- Takes dirty mops/cleaning cloths to department at end of shift
- Uses universal precautions at all times by wearing gloves, goggles, and washing hands frequently
- Wears appropriate Surgery uniform
- 13.Wears appropriate uniform in Central Processing dept
C. Medical Waste / Trash (As Assigned)
- Disposes of medical waste properly
- Ensures medical waste, trash, and soiled linen is removed often
- Ensures when transporting trash and medical waste that the carts have a tight fitting lid
- Makes rounds to patient and department areas to remove trash
- Remove recyclable items and takes to appropriate collection area
- Responsible for obtaining medical waste tracking documents
- Transports chemotherapy or radioactive waste
- Transports soiled linen
D. Auto Clave (As Assigned)
1, Conducts biological tests of the San-I-Pak sterilization process
- Informs Supervisor immediately if autoclave unit is not functioning properly
- Monitors the temperature of the autoclave unit
- Responsible for changing autoclave temperature control graph
- Responsible for operating SanlPak autoclave according to procedure
