We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to join our team.
The Controller will play a critical role in managing the financial operations of the organization, overseeing a team of accountants, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and reporting requirements.
Responsibilities Financial Management:
Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure accurate and transparent financial reporting.
Manage day-to-day financial activities, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis.
Monitor financial performance against budgetary targets and provide insights and recommendations to senior management.
Financial Reporting and Compliance:
Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and analyses in accordance with GAAP and regulatory guidelines.
Ensure compliance with IRS regulations, grant requirements, and non-profit accounting standards.
Coordinate external audits, tax filings, and other financial reporting obligations.
Team Leadership and Development:
Lead and supervise a team of 3 accountants, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
Conduct regular performance evaluations, set goals, and provide feedback to enhance team performance and efficiency.
Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, promoting teamwork, communication, and knowledge sharing.
Financial Planning and Analysis:
Collaborate with department heads and senior management to develop annual budgets, financial forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
Perform financial analysis, variance analysis, and scenario modeling to support strategic decision-making and resource allocation.
Identify opportunities for cost savings, revenue enhancement, and process improvement initiatives.
Grant and Fund Management:
Oversee grant accounting, fund management, and compliance with grant agreements and reporting requirements.
Monitor grant budgets, expenditures, and reporting deadlines, ensuring accurate and timely submissions to funders.
Requirements Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field (CPA certification preferred).Proven experience (2 years) in financial management, accounting, and reporting, preferably in a non-profit or media organization.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, non-profit accounting principles, and financial regulations.Experience with financial software and ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, etc.).Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
