The
Chef Manager monitors the daily operations of food preparation, quality and presentation ensuring that we provide residents with delicious, nutritional, and safe meals in a warm and welcoming environment.
What you'll do
Leadership:
- Conduct interviews, training, scheduling, supervising, discipline, and performance evaluations.
- Assist in leading team members and developing and maintaining policies, procedures, and written job descriptions.
- Conduct staff meetings and serve on committees.
- Assist with managing and implementing department systems and processes.
- Prepare monthly reporting.
- Keep abreast of economic conditions and recommend dietary services adjustments accordingly.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with department budget and inventory management.
Operations:
- Prepare daily meals and assist with catering and events.
- Monitor the daily operations of food preparation, quality, and presentation.
- Develop, maintain, and implement menus with current and new recipes.
- Work with the dietitian and implement recommended changes as required.
- Plan and budget for future meals and events in collaboration with Director of Dining Services.
- Manage and organize department purchasing as needed.
Quality Assurance:
- Develop, implement, and maintain an ongoing quality assurance program.
- Ensure excellent customer service, responding to customer preferences, and complaints.
- Maintain and ensure sanitation and food safety standards are upheld.
- Performs rounds to ensure department standards, quality, preparation, and service delivery are upheld.
What it takes
-
Five (5) years of progressive culinary experience in a restaurant or long-term care dining services environment in a cook to order setting.

Five (5) years of supervisory, management and coaching experience leading a culinary staff of 10 or more team members

Three (3) years of food ordering and inventory management in a restaurant or long-term care dining services setting.

Three (3) years of catering production experience.
- Certification or Degree in Culinary Arts_ preferred_
- ServSafe Certified _preferred_
- Allergen Certified_ preferred_
