    Description

    SINGH + Associates, Inc. is seeking a Junior Project Engineer to join our growing Milwaukee Transportation Engineering Group. The Junior Project Engineer will play an important role by performing design engineering tasks related to roadway geometrics, drainage, maintenance of traffic, pavement markings, signage, traffic signals, and traffic engineering studies. The position will also assist with the construction management of projects by performing daily inspections, completing reports, and verifying work done by the contractor is completed per the contract documents. All work will be performed under the supervision of SINGHs experienced professional engineering staff.

    **Job Description**

    The Junior Project Engineer position requires a technical background in at least one of the following areas: highway design, traffic engineering, construction management, roadway drainage & hydrology, or structural bridge engineering. The Junior Project Engineer must be able to deliver tasks for different engineering leads while meeting deadlines and adhering to budgetary constraints. The Junior Project Engineer will be provided the opportunity to work in the field on a construction project under the supervision of a senior construction engineer. Some regional travel may be required.

    The position will require a self-starter that can independently learn the standard processes and procedures that will be used to design and deliver a variety of roadway transportation projects. Familiarity with Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Construction and Materials Manual (CMM), Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Standard Detail Drawings (SDD), Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Standard Specifications (Spec), Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Traffic Signal Design Manual (TSDM), MUTCD and Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) MUTCD (WMUTCD) is highly recommended.

    **Tasks**

    Executes required aspects of roadway engineering based on a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals under the direction of senior engineers.

    Assists other engineers with the development of final design plans, including highway geometrics, cross sections, maintenance of traffic, traffic signal, erosion control, drainage, and pavement marking and signing plans.

    Assists other engineers in developing specifications, cost estimates, and plans for the final contract document packages.

    Performs engineering design tasks from preliminary to final design, including field data collection/assessment and the preparation of engineering studies and reports.

    Assist senior construction engineer with the day-to-day work in the field on a construction management project.

    Perform the role of field engineer by completing tasks such as measuring and verifying the quantities of work performed in the field, completing daily/weekly reports, assisting with material inspection, and general monitoring of the contractors work.

    **Skills + Qualifications**

    BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university is mandatory

    This is an entry level position

    Design experience or internship is preferred

    Strong written and verbal communication skills

    High attention to detail and accuracy

    Experience with CAD/Design Software (Civil 3D, MicroStation SS10, GeoPak, ORD) is a plus

    Microsoft Office Suite
