    Title:

    SHIPBOARD COMMUNICATIONS SECURITY (COMSEC) EQUIPMENT TECHNICIANMCPP Union Position.

    The Marine Corps' Prepositioning (MCPP) Program is based FROM Blount Island in Jacksonville, Florida, WITH DUTY ASSIGNMENT ABOARD A SHIP IN GUAM, SAIPAN, OR DIEGO GARCIA. We provide maintenance and logistics services to the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) and U.S. Navy. We are seeking a Shipboard COMSEC Equipment Technician.

    Job Summary:

    Installs, tests, and repairs multichannel communications equipment used for high capacity, point-to-point communications. Provides technical assistance, guidance, or training to lower level repairers and assists higher level repairers. Performs other tasks as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    • AA degree in electronics or equivalent certification from a technical/vocational school.
    • Four years of directly related work experience.
    • Complete the Multi-channel Equipment Technician Course or equivalent.
    • Complete the Technician Theory Course or equivalent.
    • Minimum of one year high school algebra, or equivalent.
    • In lieu of a degree a combination of college credits, other formalized training or education and directly related work experience may be considered.
    • Basic knowledge of electronic circuitry, electronic principles and formulas, and their practical application to the systems repaired.
    • Ability to apply knowledge of wiring diagrams, schematics, technical orders, and manufacturer's specifications.
    • REQUIRES U.S. CITIZENSHIP.
    • Valid States Driver's License.
    • Able to obtain a U.S. Government Common Access (CAC) Card.
    • Must have a valid U.S. passport to start employment.
    • Must be able to obtain a 'Secret' security clearance
    • Must pass a comprehensive physical examination (Military Sealift Command standards), drug screening, and detailed background investigation. Additional Qualifications:
      •Ability to comply with all established methods, quality standards, and time schedules applicable to this position.
      •Working knowledge of requisitioning requirements utilizing appropriate equipment and special tools to complete repairs.
