As an academic teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, we offer medical students the opportunity to complete their practical year (PJ).

Students are actively involved in daily activities, creating a synergistic connection between theoretical knowledge and practical experience during their medical studies.


In the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine, you will learn the essential daily practices for ensuring the safety of our patients.

During your time in the anesthesia and perioperative medicine department, you will learn about airway management, anesthesia techniques, ultrasound for nerve detection, perioperative medicine, and pain therapy.

You will experience the full spectrum of surgical medicine, from trauma to neurosurgery, and learn about the comprehensive techniques of anesthesiology.

During your time in the interdisciplinary intensive care unit, you will not only learn about the diagnosis and pathophysiology of life-threatening diseases, but also the fundamentals of treatment strategies, whether through medication or organ replacement therapy.

Communication within the team, with patients, and their families are core elements of our personalized and value-oriented medicine.
