Overview


Reporting to the COO, the Quality Assurance and Safety Manager/SQF Practitioner is responsible for developing and maintaining a quality system that ensures that quality product is produced in a consistent manner that meets customer expectations.

Through the development of process standardization, robust investigation and corrective action investigation you will ensure that our products and services consistently meet internal and external customer expectations.

Our quality system will be based on prevention through ongoing process improvement and standardization with inspection used only as a tool to validate our processes and ensure employee compliance with said processes.

Training programs will be developed and implemented that support our business objectives.

In addition to our quality efforts; the SQF Practitioner for this site has responsibility and accountability to oversee the development, implementation, review, verification and maintenance of the SQF System.

Taking appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the SQF System is maintained when changes to any process or procedure is required.

This position is also accountable to sustain and manage a world-class safety program which prioritizes the safety of our employees and provides proper training, materials and opportunity for employee engagement in our overall commitment to employee safety.


Responsibilities

Quality

  • Develop a robust quality program based on process improvement and corrective action implementation
  • Develop testing protocols that ensure consistent product that meets customer expectations
  • Develop training programs that support quality objectives
  • Develop customer relationships that ensure quality expectations are understood and concerns are effectively addressed in a timely manner
  • Develop reporting that tracks noncompliance incidents and associated costs as well as the effectiveness of the corrective actions developed to address these incidents
  • Identify process and training weaknesses across the organization
  • Take the lead on company initiatives such as ISO, food safety and FSA that are requirements for customer certification
  • Adhere to and enforce all ISO / SQF / HACCP personnel GMP practices, conduct and safety policies.

SQF

  • Communicate all essential information to relevant personnel that involves the effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF System.
  • Validate and verify all changes to food safety fundamentals and food safety plans that have an impact on the facility's ability to deliver safe food products.
  • Establish and implement the training needs of the facility personnel to ensure they have the required competencies to carry out those functions affecting products, legality, and safety.
  • Delegate verification activities to other management team members to ensure total involvement in the SQF certification process.
  • Adhere to all ISO / SQF / HACCP personnel GMP practices, conduct and safety policies.

Safety

  • Develop a robust safety program based on procedural adherence, training, tools and corrective action implementation
  • Develop training programs that support safety objectives
  • Develop reporting that tracks incidents and can be communicated effectively and simply with the entire employee base
  • Identify process and training weaknesses across the organization
  • Actively engage employees in the promotion, execution and improvement of the safety program.

Position Coverage


In the absence of the Quality Assurance and Safety Manager/SQF Practitioner, due to illness, vacation, appointments or injury, the COO will assign alternate personnel to perform the above listed position responsibilities.


Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a quality and safety leader.
  • Complete understanding of quality principles and continuous improvement
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to lead change and inspire confidence among stakeholders
  • Analytical thinker with an inquisitive approach to problem solving
  • BS in business administration or equivalent quality and safety
  • OR: Associates Degree in relevant discipline and/or a minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of processes for validations, risk management, and manufacturing documents
  • Experience with MS Office suite required
  • Experience with Document Management Systems.
  • Experience in implementing an electronic document management system.
  • Experience supporting multidepartmental requests.
