Description
The Federal Chamber of Notaries is a public corporation based in Berlin.

It represents the interests of German notaries at national and international levels, participates in legislative processes and the development of national professional law, provides training for notaries, and develops and operates complex systems in the field of electronic legal transactions.

In addition, the Federal Chamber of Notaries, as a state authority, manages the Central Care Register and the Central Will Register, two important institutions in the field of preventive legal protection.

The Central Care Register registers powers of attorney, guardianship and patient directives, as well as objections to the spousal representation law.

In case of need, guardianship courts and doctors can quickly and securely access the Central Care Register electronically and then contact the designated trusted person.

This avoids unnecessary guardianships and strengthens the self-determination of the person concerned. Registrations are made by both institutional users (such as notaries, lawyers and guardianship associations) and private individuals.

The Central Will Register records information on wills, inheritance contracts and other documents relevant to inheritance that are in official custody in an electronic database.

A registry office that issues a death certificate informs the Central Will Register of the death. The Central Will Register checks whether there are any registrations for the deceased person. It informs the official custodians as well as the competent probate court. The custodians then deliver the documents they hold to the competent probate court. Registration in the Central Will
