    Location/ Division Specific InformationPharma Services Group/ Advanced Therapies/San Francisco, CA - Our Cell Therapy (CTx) organization within the Pharma Services Group, is one of the fastest growing areas of Thermo Fisher Scientific.

    We are building a 52,000-square-foot, brand-new cell therapy collaboration center on the UCSF Mission Bay campus.

    Opening this year, the facility will serve as a central location where customers and UCSF researchers will have access to Thermo Fisher Scientific's broad portfolio of solutions and clinical and commercial cGMP cell therapy manufacturing services, along with associated technology development support to UCSF and other partners.

    In the Cell Therapy group, we focus on providing development and clinical scale services for gene and non-gene modified cell processing for a variety of unmet medical needs.

    How will you make an impact?The Supervisor is responsible for all cell processing-related tasks to produce cell-based products, including but not limited to specialized customer manufacturing, developing relevant SOPs, contributing to process validations, and continuous improvement of the Gift of Life scientific platform to support a growing cell therapy center.

    What will you do?Demonstrate the highest example of safety and quality mindedness in all job functions.
    Direct, including on the floor, supervision of the Manufacturing Operations team.
    Drive coaching and career development of operations team, focusing on technical competencies, cGMPs, and empowerment.
    Own staff capacity model and advise management on staff/shift requirements for various production run rates.
    Foster an atmosphere of a questioning attitude, empowerment (appropriate to job level), and an error prevention/ continuous improvement mindset.
    Manage and support batch disposition activities, including but not limited to MBR review and deviation/change control/CAPA closure.

    Troubleshoot activities for the production processes with the objective to guarantee that the product is delivered on time and meets release quality standards.

    Optimize production processes to improve costs, speed and quality.

    Ensure on-time completion of documentation packages for production scale processes, including but not limited to applicable SOPs, MBRs, material reconciliation, cleaning and equipment logs, etc.

    Maintain a customer and patient centric attitude to support batch execution.
    Modify or improve procedures as required to streamline departmental processes.
    Identify deviations and aid in investigations/root cause analysis/product impact assessment/CAPAs.
    Perform operational review of Master Batch Records (MBRs), as well as, executed MBRs.


    How will you get here?Education:

    Minimum required education:

    High School Diploma/ GEDBachelor's or Associate's degree in technical field preferredExperience:5+ years of experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment required.4+ years of Cell therapy Manufacturing experience required.

    Minimum of 1 year of leadership experience in a complex laboratory settingAseptic cell culture processing in ISO 5 biosafety cabinets while using universal precautions for handling of human-derived materials experience.

    Cell therapy automation technologies, closed system culture vessels, cell washers, cell separation technologies for autologous/allogenic product manipulation required.
    Experience structuring work practices around anticipation and process improvements; strives to minimize events that cause reactive responses.
    Duties and/or responsibilities may be added or deleted as management requires them to meet the organization's ongoing needs.

    Strong written and oral communication skillsAbility to self-motivate, to motivate teams, and to prioritize work and time.
    Hands on approach and flexible attitude to daily work/responsibilities, ability to drive delivery and accountability.


    Compensation and Benefits:
    The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $81,800k – 122,750k.

    This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.

    Requirements:This position requires walking, standing, stooping, lifting, and using tools requiring high dexterity. Working in a CNC and ISO 7 cleanroom area. Occasional lifting of objects weighing more than 20 pounds. Travel may also be required. Exposure to infectious diseases, hazardous chemicals and materials, needle sticks, blood, and body fluids.
