Senior Software Engineer - Certification Leader
capable of contributing to all phases of the software development lifecycle (requirements, architecture, implementation, and verification) and airborne software certification for our

This position will be responsible for providing both external influence and internal direction in software certification, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations, and internal strategies.
As new technologies such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, evolving cyber security, and model-based development are introduced, the Senior Software Engineering Certification Leader will play a key role in addressing their impact on certification processes.
Furthermore, this role will support the growth and development of the Software Engineering-Unit Members (E-UMs) pipeline and the delegated authority held by the Boeing ODA.
The Senior Software Engineering Certification Leader will provide guidance in the selection, training, and qualification of new E-UMs, as well as offer advice and counsel to existing E-UMs.
Additionally, they will conduct performance and technical evaluations of E-UMs to ensure their proficiency and effectiveness.
Collaboration with existing Boeing Software technical leaders is essential in this role, as it involves being the voice of Boeing to industry and regulators.
The Senior Software Engineering Certification Leader will actively engage with stakeholders across the Boeing Enterprise and the aerospace industry to advance software certification practices and maintain Boeing's position as a leader in this field.
Position Responsibilities:
Leads development of solutions to unprecedented and complex architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs for software systems
Coordinate with Certification Authorities and other stakeholders for successful resolution of certification risks and issues
Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes, and regulations
Ensure Boeing defines and implements sufficient processes that meet regulatory guidance for software oversight
Develops, selects, tailors, and deploys software processes, tools and metrics
Develops and maintains code and integrates software components into a fully functional software system
Explores the enterprise and industry for state-of-the-art methods, tools and processes applicable to software evaluation and test
Performs software project management and software supplier management functions
Leads integration of new tools, processes, etc. to improve productivity
Executes and documents software research and development projects
Resolves complex embedded software and software verification issues that span functional domains, programs, and business units
Advises management on a wide range of high leverage embedded software and software verification issues.
Works independently
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
10+ years of experience in software engineering
10+ years of experience applying or working within guidelines of RTCA DO-178 standard, Software Considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certifications
5+ years' experience with software development using either Java, C++, or Python
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Current Engineering Unit-Member and Advisor
Experience interfacing with internal and external stakeholders regarding airborne software certification and guidance
Experience with DAL A software development to RTCA DO-178(B/C).
Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts and approaches to a variety of audiences, ranging from inexperienced developers to Government technical advisors/leaders
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g., Bachelor) and typically 20 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g.
