Description
The RoleResponsible for the day-to-day operations of the Application Technology Lab. Supervises applications lab technicians and scientists, including responsibility for their performance review and goal setting. Oversees the daily activities related to managing the group, including work distribution, prioritization, timesheets, PTO, etc. Maintains items in the quality systems including the calibration records, standard operating procedures, and reported results. Works closely with other functions in the business line to address timelines and help communicate results.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Work Prioritization and Distribution
Prioritizes work requests from TSM's, Sales, Process, Innovation, and other groups
Informs and delivers data on time
Coordinates equipment usage based on priorities set by Tech Service
Recognize if workloads are uneven and correct any issues
Training
Conduct training for new Applications Lab Employees
Conduct lab training for new employees when necessary (sales, OEM)
Conduct cross training within TS / Process / Innovation
Laboratory Equipment Management
Ensures that employees are properly calibrating & maintaining laboratory equipment
Organizes training sessions when necessary
Establishes equipment ownership list with backups listed and managed
Manages the procurement process for new lab equipment
Personnel Management
Coordinates PTO, timesheets, and personnel issues on a day-to-day basis
Ensures that employees are working safely on a daily basis, are following site, company, OSHA, ISO & RC rules and guidelines.
Correct any issues if required & be able to reprimand or praise when necessaryPerforms reviews / goal setting with direct reports
Provides development plans for direct reports
Actively manages any performance issues so all direct reports meet expectations
Collaborates with colleagues in different regions (Darmstadt, Shanghai) to share best practices related to Lab Management
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree, any discipline but chemistry is preferred
Experience enables job holder to deal with the majority of situations and to advise others
Basic experience of coordinating the work of others
Works without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on analyzing data trends for use in reports to help guide decision making.
Supports business processes without supervision by understanding and effectively using standard office equipment and standard software packages, while providing technical guidance as needed.
Works without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on acquiring, organizing, protecting and processing data to fulfill business objectives.
Works without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on achieving full compliance with applicable rules and regulations in management and/oroperations.
Works without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on creating relevant, lucid and effective reports.
Uses clear and effective verbal communications skills without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on expressing ideas, requesting actions and formulating plans or policies.
Applies understanding of the business environment and objectives to develop solutions without supervision, while also providing technical assistance when necessary.
Conducts research and analyzes data without supervision while providing technical guidance as needed in order to develop a comprehensive understanding of customer and market conditions that enables maximum return on investments.
Works without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on planning, organizing, prioritizing and overseeing activities to efficiently meet business objectives.
