    Description

    DEFINITION:

    As a skilled mechanic, your role involves maintaining and repairing various motor vehicles and construction equipment.

    EXAMPLES OF WORK:

    • Repair and service engines, power trains, suspension systems, and mechanical units of vehicles and equipment.
    • Locate mechanical problems, replace defective parts, make adjustments, and rebuild components using specialized tools.
    • Overhaul engines, transmissions, and electrical systems, ensuring efficient performance and safety.
    • Work on a range of vehicles from automobiles to heavy-duty construction equipment.
    • Handle complex tasks like rebuilding engines and transmissions integrated with braking and steering systems.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    TRAINING:

    Completion of one year of automotive technology training at a community college or vocational school.

    EXPERIENCE:

    Minimum of two years of experience in maintaining and repairing motor vehicles and construction equipment.

    LICENSE:

    Must have a valid driver's license in New Jersey.

    Applicants may need a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) depending on the vehicles operated.

    SALARY: $47,410
