Position Summary
The Assistant Director of the Office of Residence Life & University Housing is responsible for assisting in the overall management and leadership of the Office of Residence Life & University Housing department, including two residential complexes made up of 850 beds, Summer Conferences, two professional staff, four paraprofessional staff, 15 Resident Assistants, and 6 Office Assistants.
This is a full-time, exempt position located on the Chicago campus. The selected candidate must reside on campus in the Wabash building, located at Roosevelt University's Chicago campus. This position reports to the Director of the Office of Residence Life & University Housing.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Master's Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or related field.
A minimum of 3 years' professional experience in residence life, housing, student affairs or other relevant work in a university or college setting.
Supervisory experience of bachelor's level professionals or paraprofessionals.Beginning-level experience with StarRez, or similar housing software interface, including housing assignments, billing, room changes, reports, conference module, and data subscriptions.
Prior student conduct experience in the resolution of low-level to mid-level disciplinary cases.Demonstrated aptitude for dealing with crisis intervention, conflict resolution and mediation.
Strong communication, presentation, interpersonal and counseling skills.
The capacity to work effectively with a variety of constituencies, including students, parents, staff and faculty.
Effective and creative leadership skills.
Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
Must be well organized and able to work under pressure with multiple deadlines in an ever changing, fast-paced environment.
Previous experience in emergency management and/or behavioral / mental health, such as Student of Concerns committees.
Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse student body.
Excellent organizational, communication (written and verbal), interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
Ability to demonstrate a commitment to service excellence by embodying Roosevelt's core values, mission, and vision in every aspect of the role working with students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Management and Administration:
Assists in the oversight of all student housing and summer conference lodging occupancy processes (applications, room selection, cancellation and exemptions request, special accommodation requests, consolidation, room changes, etc.).
Maintains close and constant communication with campus safety, facilities, and housekeeping staff to ensure safety, security and wellbeing of residential students and facilities.
Assists in the oversight of the residential student conduct management and works alongside the Associate Dean of Students and the Office of Student Rights & Responsibilities.
Serves as secondary contact and liaison between Roosevelt University and the University Center Chicago (Peak Campus property group, a third-party company, whom Roosevelt University has a master lease).

Assists in providing guidance and direction to the Office of Residence Life & University Housing staff members about day to day and long-term goals.
Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates 1 full time employee and 4 graduate students.Assists in the hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of 21 student staff members.
Oversees the departmental programmatic efforts to provide an educational component to residential living.
Assists in the oversight of efforts related to residence hall opening and closing, RA Training, Student Staff Selection,

(Living Learning Communities), and other key initiatives for the Office.

Student Support, Duty and
Crisis Management:
Serves as a conduct hearing officer.
Serves on the Homelessness and Food Insecurity Task Force.
Participates as a member of the Universities' Students of Concern ( SOC ) team.
Serves in on call emergency response rotation with Director of the Office of Residence Life & University housing.
Works closely with the facilities and housekeeping teams to schedule repair work in the residence hall. Both improvements and maintenance (i.e. flushing water in empty rooms, scheduling air filter cleaning, painting, repair work, space enhancements, furniture purchases, etc.).
Works closely with other departments of the Division of Student Affairs to provide full extracurricular support for all residential students.
Serves as secondary liaison to outer-divisional partners to ensure seamless student support for residential students.Serves as secondary contact for vendors to complete projects, maintain operational needs and keep customer satisfaction (Vendors: Key system, cable/Wi-fi provider, computer software databases), review and renew contracts as needed.
Plans and executes large scale events for University students (Move-In days, Welcome Week, Homecoming, etc.); reserve spaces, order food, work with outside vendors, develop marketing materials, etc.
