Primary ResponsibilitiesHDR Engineering is looking for a Bridge Engineer/Inspector to join our National Infrastructure Inspection Team.
The Bridge Engineer/Inspector will be expected to perform local and national bridge, tunnel, and structural inspections and requires familiarity with a broad spectrum of bridge inspection equipment, methods, and processes.
The candidate will conduct National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) inspections, write field inspection reports, and perform basic mathematical calculations. Field inspections will be performed from ground level, hydraulic equipment, ladder access, or using rope access techniques.As an inspection team leader, the candidate will provide supervision of the inspection team and provide support to the Project Managers in planning inspection activities.
Occasional office engineering (design, CADD, analysis, etc) may be required.ResponsibilitiesLead bridge inspections, develop inspection reports, and perform structural load rating calculations.
Must be willing to work with other disciplines (bridge design, roadway design, hydraulic analysis, stream restoration, planning, traffic control) within the office, as necessary, during inspection downtime.
Must possess a valid driver's license and have the ability to travel for multiple night stays during the week.Willingness to travel within the Unites States to inspection sites.
This position requires physical ability to perform field inspections of in-service bridge and culvert structures, tunnel structures, highway structures, overhead sign structures, hydraulic structures, and metal traffic signal poles.
Physical demands include positioning extension ladders, maneuvering small boats, driving long distances, confined space, air travel, occasionally working at night, and walking long distances on uneven surfaces.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Demonstrated leadership skills, communication skills, and ability to work with various multi-disciplinary teamsCandidate should expect exposure to environmental hazards, such as, but not limited to, warm and cold temperatures, water, work-at-height, confined spaces, poisonous plants, snakes, ticks, spiders, and other creatures.

QualificationsQualificationBS in Civil Engineering required.
MS in Civil/Structural Engineering preferred.
Registered Professional Engineer required.
Minimum of 5 years' bridge/structural inspection and design experience required.
NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges Training required.
NHI Bridge Inspector Refresher Training, if applicable.
NHI Inspection of Fracture Critical Steel Bridges Training preferred.
NHI Tunnel Safety Inspection Training preferred.
Society of Professional Rope Access Technicians (SPRAT)
Certification as a Level I preferred.
American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Certification as a Level 1 preferred.
American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) preferred.
Mobile Elevating Working Platform (MEWP) Operator Certification for scissor lifts, boom lifts, and under bridge inspection vehicles (UBIV) preferred.
UAS Pilot (FAA Part 107 certification) with structural inspection experience preferred.
Experience in asset management data software (AASHTOWare BrM, AssetWise, inspectX, etc.) required.
Experience in load rating software (AASHTOWare BrR, BRASS, CANDE, etc.) preferred.

(Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.) The expected compensation range for this position is:Colorado will be $75, $104,470.00 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
New York will be $68, $122,125.00 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
Washington will be $64, $112,355.00 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
