    Tool Designer I

    Description

    JOB SCOPE:

    • Create and maintain detailed operational processes for parts, sub\-assemblies, and engine build ensuring that mistake proofing techniques are incorporated into these processes\.
    • Utilization of CAD systems for the design, detail, and checking of simple to intermediate level jigs, fixtures, gauges, tools, and simple machines\.
    • Creation and maintenance of simple to intermediate level CNC programs for multiple axis machine tools including writing, editing, troubleshooting, and correcting tooling/programming problems\.
    • Tool designer owns process and program until proven out\.
    • Interface with numerous departments, including but not limited to, Engineering, Operations, Quality, Product Support, Materials, Procurement and Sales\. Works across payrolls, functions and shifts to solve problems in a timely manner\.
    • Provide operational processes, designs, and programs in such a manner that complies with Lycoming processes and procedures to meet customer requirements\.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Perform assigned work in a safety conscious manner\.
    • Perform assigned work to specific quality and production standards\.
    • Maintain equipment, tools, and work area in a clean professional condition\.
    • Prepare or maintain all documentation necessary for the job classification\.
    • Perform other duties inherently required of the job classification\.
    • Must be capable and willing to adopt new technologies and travel up to 10% of the time for training and troubleshooting purposes\.

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Associate degree or two\-year certificate program in Tool Technology, Automated Manufacturing, CAM/CNC Programming or equivalent\. Previous education or job experience may allow waiver of educational requirements\.
    • One\-year experience preferred\.
    • Demonstrated proficiency with computers and various types of software including Microsoft office Word and Excel\.
    • Ability to read and interpret simple to intermediate level blue prints\.
    • Ability to articulate in both written and spoken communication\.
