- Support the day-to-day underwriting workflow under the guidance of an Underwriter or Senior Underwriting Assistant.
- Communicate daily with Underwriters to ensure tasks are completed efficiently.
- Assist in preparing for audits.
- Maintain quality processing of policies while fostering relationships with internal and external teams.
- Organize underwriting files and ensure all documentation is accurately filed within the System.
- Develop a solid understanding of Mission's underwriting guidelines and procedures.
- Coordinate with Brokers and departments to address outstanding requirements.
- Review new and renewal submissions for underwriting criteria and completeness.
- Handle policy issuance, non-renewals, and cancellations.
- Assist in underwriting risks and adhering to the business plan.
- Availability to work Pacific (West Coast) business hours
- Holder of a Bachelor's degree; OR 3+ years of insurance experience
- At least 1 year of experience supporting Construction insurance underwriting; OR experience with Carrier, Producing or MGA insurance
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Quick to grasp new systems
- Strong multitasking and prioritization skills
- Detail-oriented with a focus on Mission's business objectives
- Effective organization and time management abilities
- Up to 10% travel required
- Background in commercial insurance and regulation
- Familiarity with Project management software
- Experience with Policy Administration software - Origami
- Minimum 3 years experience as an Underwriting Assistant in Construction
- Experience in reviewing commercial insurance applications and processing policies
- Skilled in communicating with Brokers/Agents
- Reside on the West Coast of the United States
