Our Profile:
The Institute of Surface Engineering focuses on research and development in joining and surface technology. The methods used include Thermal Spraying, Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD), Weld Overlay, Hard Soldering, and Brazing. Our dedicated and open-minded team addresses current issues such as environmental protection and resource conservation. As key technologies for solving these challenges, industrially relevant surface and joining techniques are applied in a practical manner.
Current research priorities in the field of Thermal Spraying include coatings that not only have a protective effect, but can also be used functionally.
By applying an electric current, the coatings can act as resistance heating elements and release thermal energy near the surface where it is needed.
These layers are used in ongoing research projects in plastic injection molding tools.Your Profile:
- Aboveaverage degree in a technical field (Master's or equivalent); e.g. in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a similar program
- Basic knowledge in materials science
- High level of independence and initiative
- Problemsolving approach
- Team and communication skills
