    The salary range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

    At WGU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is:

    Pay Range: $102, $159,100.00

    Job Profile Summary:

    The Institutional Project Portfolio Manager I (PPM I) role is responsible for the execution of all portfolio functions such as road mapping, prioritization, goal setting, and status reporting for one or more institutional portfolios typically comprised of improvement, transformational, or innovation initiatives/programs. In this role, the manager will support the lifecycle of a large portfolio, lead portfolio and program-level reviews, optimize processes and best practices, identify areas for improvement, report analyses, and create stakeholder engagement. The PPM I will coordinate with executive leaders to plan and align programs and projects to the organization's strategic priorities and initiatives. The PPM I role is responsible for the management, coordination, and continuous improvement of the project portfolio process across multiple PMOs, to ensure a unified approach for managing projects and programs, investment decision making, and tracking portfolio health. The PPM I reports to the Director of Institutional Portfolio Management in the CFO organization.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

    • Construction, coordination, and maintenance of strategic portfolio roadmaps of initiatives, programs, and projects (including tied OKRs) within the WGU ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management system
    • Coordinates with leadership on the definition of strategic objectives to define portfolio objectives.
    • Analyzes and reports on the impact of portfolio against strategic goals.
    • Advises leadership on prioritization and ongoing optimization of the project portfolio based on project metrics and KPIs.
    • Reports on portfolio progress, performance, and risks to stakeholders using metrics, data visualization, and executive communications.
    • Escalates issues that threaten portfolio and project success.
    • Coordinates with project and program managers on the execution of components within a portfolio.
    • Provides recommendations on resource allocation and manage coordination between resource managers.
    • Develops and implements portfolio management methodologies and best practices to elevate the skills and capabilities at the team and organization level.
    • Advises in the establishment and reinforcement of common practices, tools, and templates for portfolio and project management, and ensure adherence to company and legal standards.
    • Consults and trains leaders and users on reporting and dashboarding using the PPM tool, ServiceNow.
    • Coordinates with Enterprise Change Management and Enterprise Risk Management office on the implementation impact of portfolio components.
    • Collaboration with EdTech engineering teams and PPM tool vendors regarding the permissions, development and architecture needs of our project and portfolio teams within our PPM platform.
    • Manages and implements continuous improvement opportunities for the project intake, prioritization, reporting, and planning process.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Job Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Quality, Computer Science/Software/Information Management, or Business Management. Education must be from an accredited institution. Education is verified.
    • 10+ years professional experience in a role that required extensive Project Portfolio Management Project/Change Management skills in a large and distributed organization employees)with a dynamic transformational environment.
    • Strong proficiency designing reports and dashboards in the ServiceNow PPM tool.
    • Understands planning capabilities and reporting in PPM tools such as Strategic Planning Workspace.
    • Understands Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) software such as Workday Adaptive Planning.
    • Excellent understanding of Change Management theory/techniques, and implementation into a project plan.
    • Excellent understanding and skills in the change management process.
    • Minimum of 8 years of progressive project management & business transformation experience.
    • Project Management qualification (PMP) or Scrum Master Certification.
    • Professional experience in strategic planning, risk management.
    • Proficiency in project management software tools.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Program Management Professional (PgMP) or Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP) Certification.
    • Knowledge of scripting languages like JavaScript forServiceNow PPM development
    • Masters degree or higher in relevant field.
    • Green or Black Belt Certification.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
