- Develop, implement, and maintain safety and environmental policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
- Ensure the facility maintains an up-to-date emergency response plan and lead emergency response efforts.
- Develop and implement EHS training programs for all employees and lead our safety committee.
- Conduct regular safety orientations and refresher trainings.
- Perform routine safety and environmental inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
- Oversee the disposal of waste and manage recycling programs, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
- Act as the primary contact for regulatory inspections and maintain necessary permits and documentation.
- Investigate workplace incidents and near misses, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records of all workplace injuries and illnesses.
- Drive initiatives to reduce the company's environmental footprint, including resource conservation and waste reduction projects.
- Keep up-to-date with industry best practices, changes in regulations, and emerging trends in EHS.
- Work closely with production, maintenance, and quality control teams to embed EHS considerations in all facets of operations.
- Coordinate with external stakeholders, including vendors, contractors, and local communities, to promote EHS best practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in EHS roles, preferably within the food manufacturing industry.
- Comprehensive understanding of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire teams.
- Certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) are a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines.
- 3 years of Safety experience
- 5 years of Food Manufacturing experience.
